Povetkin vrs Perez set for May 22 (possibly). Quite a risk for Povetkin. Which means he's probably feeling confident. However, Perez has the tools. If the fight is in Moscow, that's alot of pressure and adversity to overcome. Should be a good one.
Possible Povetkin/Perez fight and beyond. I think Povetkin has an edge in talent, experience and in physical conditions. He isn't damaged goods after the Klitschko fight. He is the same fighter.I like his promoter plan to get him more experience. But clearly every boxer has a limit, how far he can go?It seems he has his weight under control that's a good thing too. As for Perez. I like him.He has the talent,I see him beating most heavyweights at the moment, even if he is in bad condition. If he is in superb condition like in prizefighter he can beat top heavyweights, except Wladimir of course.Judging from last outing Perez has got himself into the shape. But he is visibly slower than in prizefighter tournament.Even his style has changed a little bit,in wrong direction. But he still is good heavyweight with power, some speed, good technique and excellent chin.In his last fights,he relied on his chin too often he didn't evade punches much.He needs to move his head more, but he is a work in progress. Prediction. I see Povetkin winning wide points decision.Povetkin has lasted the distance with eight opponents so I don't see him winning via knockout.Perez can't go twelve hard rounds with his current stamina. And he doesn't have best defense. But I see Perez winning few rounds in this fight. Future. Perez can come back after defeat. He still has uncracked chin, his technique and power. But he will have to reinvent himself. As for Povetkin,he is on his way to clean out heavyweight division, but he still will lose against Wladimir in rematch. And on another note,I like his promoter's idea to keep him busy against top fighters and fix his glitches.
Gennady Golovkin has fought Mike Perez in the amateurs at light welterweight. He won via ud,scores were 30-17,for Golovkin.
Arnold Gjergjaj will face Zoltan Csala on 27th February.Zoltan Csala is ranked 59th in the world,on boxrec.
hmm, sounds a little odd. Perez was fighting at 178 back in 2004. Im not sure when he would have ever have fought as low as light welter.
