it terms of the percentage or cut, is it standard or negotiated? lets say a fighter sells 350,000 PPV at 65.00 = 22,750,000 dollars. How is that divided between the fighter, cable outlet, opponent. wonder what the Cotto, Martinez numbers were and what each of them got? who is well informed on this, breakdown please.
half of that goes to distributors....but again, fighter's share will all depend on what they agreed to in the contract.
22,750,000 x 55% goes to distributers and hbo/showtime then the promoter takes his cut for profits, purses, expenses, fees etc etc then the main event fighter gets his.
The main event fighter has his set purse as well. Whatever is left will be shared between the main event fighters. Then you have foreign TV rights, replays, tickets, merchandise and what not.
An example is of Froch v Groves 2 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-2717178/Carl-Froch-vs-George-Groves-II-declared-box-office-hit-Rematch-22m-richest-fight-British-soil.html
for the longest time the fighters got nothing from PPV. I don't think people on here quite understand how it works. Half the PPV money goes to the cable and satellite providers. That takes a huge sum out right there. Not everyone who fights on PPV is getting an upside in fact very few are.
What you get when "fans" keep applauding certain fighters that keeps the focus on 'Dis a bidnes' instead of actually delivering the product.:!:
Decades ago Hollywood stars created their own United Artists brand so that the money could go to the actors, not to the wealthy studios and distributors. Boxers should have done the same by creating a promotion/distribution enterprise a long time ago. Shame all that money goes to elites rather than the fighters.
