Your time training (be it weights, cardio, a sport etc).

What are some of the myths and facts that you've encountered?

    Myth: Weights make you slow.

I think we can all agree on this one, right? Especially when done in an Olympic Lifting manner.

Myth: You are borned with punching power, it can't be developed.

It can be developed with hard training.

I used to think meal timing mattered, and that we need more protein than we really do. In the 80's like many a youngster I was brainwashed by the corrupt bodybuilding industry rags and supplement companies. Still goes on today..

It took me a while to grasp that overall energy output is what really matters in training, and that all the other stuff's detail.

I also totally underestimated the use of drugs in all pro sport.

Yeah, protein consumption - well, the old '1gram per Lb of B/w' - is outdated , IMO.

I think being born with Punching power IS a gift. Otherwise Malignaggi would be a killer etc.

A gram per kilo's far more like it. :good

And I agree re yr second point. Boxing's about bone density as much as anything, and you can only train that so much, the rest is genetic. Also, some body shapes are naturally more powerful than others due to differences in leverage.

So you think it's incorrect? Just wondering how you came to your conclusion that '1gram per Lb of B/w' is "outdated".

I know yr question wasn't addressed to me but I find this a good source of nutrition info: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/protein/ :good

I think folk obsess too much on protein rather than simply eating a balanced diet. If you have a balanced diet you're not going to have a protein deficiency.
