for all you know the OP might be in a wheelchair typing up responsses proff steven Hawkins style. Even for joe " weak opposition" calzaghe that's pushing it.

How much of a twunt does that make you feel, setting up an ordinary guy with a pro boxer?

    U bully much?

anyway joe calwasnt a knock out type, he was categorically featherfisted.

true to an extent, though he did beat injured Kessler at home and 40something bhop in his defence.

not much of a defence though. its true joe knew how to manipulate his media image so that his endless national level defences were seen as bigger than they were.

Anyway I was just spreading the news for his fans so they can go see their hero up front. its all good. the movie might even be watchable, details here-

Joe was coming off two of his best wins, whilst Roy hadn't had a win at the highest level for 5 years. Joe was past his best, but he was an elite fighter, one of the best fighters in the world at the time. The shot that Roy threw was mistimed. His timing was no longer there. But Joe was always susceptible to right hands, all throughout his career, even though he was a great fighter. Therefore it's perfectly understandable why people point to that shot, and then claim that Roy would have beaten him when prime. Joe's defence in 2007/2008, was really no different to his defence all throughout his career. As great as he was, he was always relatively easy to hit. A prime version of Roy would have had no problems finding him.

yup joe wouldn't have got up from the prime roy or would have gone straight back down. ko in 1 or 2, but possibly a loss for joe wide on points if he ran.

or, a stoppage win with Joe's ref in wales should roy slip whislt battering joe senseless.

If they'd have fought and Joe had've forced the issue, I could definitely envisage a TKO for Roy.

I don't pretend to know who would of won but there's a big difference to Jones would of beaten him which is acceptable to Jones destroys him which is what is usually pushed by fanboys.

It's the same as saying that Joe completely outclassed Roy when both were past their best so maybe a hand injury free Joe could of beat him. But saying Joe destroys him based on this performance is ridiculous.

naa ali destroys berbick for sure.

tyson destroys neilsen no doubt. primes are called prime for a reason.

but to be fair, prime for prime would only yield one result, calzaghe pulling out with a convenient injury, as always when he knew he was in for a beating. this is the proven nature of calzaghe.

Without the hand problems that plagued Calzaghe for the second half of his career, there is no reason to disbelieve he could have stopped Jones with that sh*t chin. Joe would have brought pressure and work rate Jones had never seen before.

As for Calzaghe being in a film. Good luck to him, pleased to see him doing well whilst the so called great Jones is going round the world getting battered for rent money.

Comparing RJJ to Ali is absolutely ridiculous.. Jones had immense talent but never lived up to it and fought ALOT OF BUMS and so did Calzaghe. When they did fight both were past it and Calzaghe destroyed him it was embarrassing. But to say that either would destroy the other in their primes is ridiculous. I wouldn't put Tarver on Calzaghes level but he let me guess he ended Roy's prime right? Hell if Griffin could give Jones problems Calzaghe could he is a far better fighter than Griffin. You are too damn bias though anyway.

Judging what could have been on 1 punch is ridiculous sorry but it is especially since Roy pretty much didn't land another the whole fight. That's like me saying a Calzaghe with good hands beats Jones without showboating comfortably because he owned a past prime Jones. Jones chin was the same throughout his whole career also and to say an awkward Calzaghe with good hands couldn't find it is not understandable . Yes Calzaghe had some of his best wins late but he wasn't prime it's just that when he was prime he wasted his time not fighting the best available fighters out there but he was still good enough to best some good fighters at the end of his career. The shot Roy threw was lucky that is all it was but Calzaghe was never hurt by it. Calzaghe wasn't easy to find but he wasn't overly cautious about getting tagged because he could take a punch. As for Roy he also didn't fight top comp when he was at the top either he carefully picked his opponents just as much as Calzaghe did. Both fighters are always going to have a lot of question marks over their careers because of it.

Lol. Thread should be changed to a Roy Jones super thread seeing as how he gets mentioned in every page.

I really don't understand your Brits. Joe is a good fighter, the GOAT at Super Middleweight for sure. But he isn't nor will ever be in Jones league. Jones is by far the superior fighter, I really don't understand why it's a debate.
