    :dead

Lucas ain't stopping a granite chinned Ruslan. Lucas couldn't stop Zab, couldn't stop Devon, couldn't even hurt Garcia.

Lucas's full power shot only knocked the mouthpiece out of Garcia, Garcia wasn't even hurt by it.

    Ruslan's chin rivals DSG's.

Oh okay. So why did Chop rock Provodnikov a bunch of times but never once make Lucas blink? :think

That was a good 3-4 years ago and to my knowledge, Freddie hasn't worked with him yet, he only started working with Ruslan after the 1st Pac fight I believe. He was one of Pac's sparring partners for that fight.

It's one of those aberrations, a lack of confidence vs top tier competition and was surprised by Chopchop. He's taken a lot of shots after that without going down. He only really fought Herrera before then. Now he has much more confidence, more competition vs great competition.

He's not getting stopped. If anyone is getting stopped, it's Lucas. Like I said before, Lucas's chin has been cracked, he's looking quite shaky and when Ruslan delivers those bombs. I could see Lucas dropping to the seat of his pants. :yep

I'll say this - Ruslan's OHR (which put down Algieri and Bradley) is probably a lot harder than anything John Molina has in his ****nal. That punch is TNT.

I can see Matthysse going down.

I don't see him staying down, though. (Algieri and Bradley didn't, remember? Provo...not such a great finisher...)

I see him getting up, getting mad (and ruthlessly focused) and kicking ass with better technique and just as much power if not more than Provodnikov in a firefight that Matthysse will control with his superior boxing skills.

MVC! is actually right, which is weird. I think it wasn't until after his fight with Corley that Provodnikov got with Roach.

If Ruslan lands that right, I could see an eventual TKO.

Lucas doesn't seem to be able to take hard shots without going down, evident from the John Molina fight

If those shots could do that much damage, imagine Ruslan landing those. I don't see Lucas being able to do the same thing he did in that fight.

But this will be a war, a thriller.

Yeah, Provodnikov had Roach in his corner in 2012 for both Torres & Reynoso.

Matthysse can box. He knocked out Peterson in the 3rd round. I really like Provodnikov, thought he beat Bradley. However, Matthysse is a much more skilled fighter than Provodnikov, would counter him, do a lot of damage. I hate to see this fight if happens. I hope it does not. How about a rematch, Provodnikov Vs. Bradley? Whatever, Matthysse will get a big fight coming up fairly soon...................

I know, Farmy, having to wait to see light-skinned guys KO black guys is a real drag. :sad2

I didn't know that Peterson knocked Matthysse out. I guess I must have been seeing things.................When Khan fought Peterson in Wash DC, it was a disgrace......................very sad night for boxing.................

Herrera is the champion, he clearly beat Danny Garcia. I do not like Garcia at all and esp. not his father......................

Only one shot from the Molina fight was legit the other was behind the head as Berstien and Paulie pointed out.. He never looked hurt from them :deal ...........meanwhile Ruslan has been hurt by Bradley and Corley just to name a few light punchers

Pssh.. Also I know styles make fights but I can't help but find it interesting that Matthysse knocked Corley down 9 times before the ref mercifully stopped the contest while Provo didn't come close

Corley actually was never a light puncher; he jolted Mayweather.

...but yeah, he backed Provodnikov into a corner a bunch of times and had a look of confused panic spreading over his face. Matthysse? Never took a backward step, never blinked at one counter from Corley.

People always look at Ko percentages, Chop Chop hurts a lot of guys, he's just **** at finishing. Remember when he hurt Miguel, and was wooing and showboating and let the moment pass. :patsch

Anyway, Matthysse is a far better "boxer" than Provodnikov. He throws far more fluid shots and moves better. I'm not so certain he stops the russian, but Provodnikov is woefully overrated. He deserves to be back on ESPN level fight nights. Good puncher, Good chin, but no dimensions to his game or plan B.
