why are you arguing that he was not within his rights and biologivcal clock to retire, when all the hw champions save comeback foreman had retired from HW defences by 38?

you are arguing against the whole of hw history - give it up

I already did that in Classic last year. Lewis' proposed payday for Byrd was more than Rahman, and the estimated Johnson/Vitali earnings. I supplied multiple sources that quoted the figure for the IBF defense, and you started crying about wanting to see a copy of the actual contract..which frankly didn't make any sense and made you look pretty stupid.

And most importantly a Byrd fight was worth more money than the alternative Lewis ultimately selected: sitting at ringside and looking stupid as Byrd shutout Holyfield.

    thnks for mentioning that one.

theres always an exception true,. but I'd count only Walcott so far as the only valid late reign at 38, since vits was defending against largely bums and wlad is starting to do the same increasingly.

Why does your scorecard differ so much from the judges?

I don't see how you can give an additional 3 rounds (possibly 4) to Byrd.

That's a matter of opinion. Pulev and Jennings are genuine contenders and are regarded as such, rather you like it or not.

Considering how much you posted about Pulev beating Wlad, I say you cared a great deal.

Vitali did lose the Byrd fight due to the injury though, but that's not the topic.

Considering everything put up there as the part of fighter's resume, Vitali is clearly ahead. Case closed.

pulev is a weak contender but still a contender.

Jennings we shall we, have yet to catch up on him anyway.

reagrdles there have been too many fatboys. I still enjoy the fights, fantasy and paraphenelia but just like the Six Nations rugger which I sometimes watch, you know half the teams are a bunch of fatboys and its really just overblown bluster on the whole andmost of these guys are only playing rugger because they were too craap at other sports to make it.

My card often differs from judges. I also thought pac won more rounds against bradley than the judges did to pick a recent example.

I would have to re watch it but from memory it was 4, 6, 7, and 9. The championship rounds looked as if they'd have gone the way of Byrd hence my prediction of 7-5 at the time.

Obviously in terms of rounds I gave it 5-4 over the first 9.

Vitali was 1, 2, 3, 5 and 8. Quite dominant until the injury but given how much air he was hitting the injury was always a risk.

In May 2003, Lewis sued boxing promoter Don King for $385 million, claiming that King used threats and bribery to have Tyson pull out of a rematch with Lewis and a fight on the card of a Lewis title defence.

Lewis scheduled a fight with Kirk Johnson for June, but when Johnson suffered an injury in training, Lewis fought Vitali Klitschko, the WBC's #1 contender and former WBO champion. Lewis had planned to fight him in December, but since Klitschko had been on the undercard of the Johnson fight anyway, they agreed to square off on June 21.

Because Klitschko had fought so bravely against Lewis, boxing fans soon began calling for a rematch. The WBC agreed, and kept the Ukrainian as its No. 1 contender. Lewis initially was in favour of a rematch:

"I want the rematch, I enjoyed that fight. It was just a fight. We went at it. You have to play dollars and cents but I'm opting more for the rematch."

Negotiations for the rematch followed but Lewis changed his mind. Lewis announced his retirement in February 2004 and decided to pursue other interests.

I have no interest in anyone's opinion on whether or not a rematch should have occurred, suffice to say Vitali was beaten by a career heavy, out of shape, Lennox by cuts that were caused from punches.

    What's your point?

They used Lennox being heavy as one of their tactics. Emmanuel had Lewis lean on Vitali so he would get tired.

Lennox was almost knocked out in the 2nd round.
