That fight was scheduled as Brewster was #1 contender for Sanders' title. But then Corrie desided to fight Vitali for the vacant WBC title.

Who would've won if the two faced in April 2004? And how?

Hard to pick the winner, Sanders probably 3/1 favorite in this one.

I'd go with Brewster, because Sanders lost Rahman and Tubbs, which are about same size as Brewster.

Sanders was a better fighter but I think Brewster's toughness would carry him to the late rounds where corrie often tired. And if this were 2004, Corrie was now 38 years old and not training much since beating Wlad.

Unless Sanders lands a home run bomb and gets Lamon outta there early , Brewester wins, BUT I DON'T SEE AN EARLY STOPPAGE, because Brewester was pretty durable, and a pretty tough customer..

I see a replay of the Rahman fight, where Sanders runs outta gas and Brewester stops him midway..

After Sanders landed the lottery punch against Klitchko he got like Buster Douglas, fat, lazy, and lacked the necessary motivation...

Actually it was several lottery shots, Wlad was exposed and humiliated and Down four times...

Brewster does to Sanders what he did to Wlad. He absorbs everything Sanders can throw at him and as Sanders inevitably gasses after 3 rounds KO's him.

Sanders get's over rated based on the Wlad win. He was dangerous early but he was basically a 4 round fighter. He couldn't KO Rahman who didn't have a great chin so there's no reason to believe he could do what Wlad couldn't do and finish Brewster. Brewster also hit hard and had more than enough power to take out Sanders.

I would pick Brewster for the reasons that others have given.

Wouldn't bet my mortgage on it of course.

Brewster should win bc I seriously doubt Sanders would keep it together for 12.. 90s Sanders would probably outbox him fairly easily.

    Sanders on points.

    Lamon Brewster is terrible.

One old completely out of shape fighter versus a no-talent mediocrity ...

Terrible fighters don't beat Wlad, Krasniqi, Meehan and Golota without losing over two or three years.

I remember the Kali Meehan fight, I think Corrie takes Brewster out with speed and power but if Corrie not in great condition Brewster can come on

    "Krasniqi, Meehan ..."

    lmao

Sorry I don't rate C level athletes as highly as you do.

And, how old was that paragon of mental and athletic consistency, Golota?

So, why even bother with that?

Wlad's losing is more a reflection on him than any confirmation of exceptionalism in Sanders overall and certainly not of any in Brewster.

This proposed fight (of the unfit, old, Sanders vs the horrible Brewster in 2004) could be used as the perfect reflection of what heavyweight boxing is like in an era when the pool of big men participating is small and lacking in talented committed athletes.

Just because it is all that is there in a division or sport doesn't make it any good, man, merely by its existence. There are scrubs that participate in lots of sports - just as there are lousy doctors, accountants, lawyers, engineers, etc. If you are the only doctor on an island but a lousy doctor, you are obviously the best doctor on the island. If you are a heavyweight over the past decade you are a professional fighter ... doesn't make you any good or laudable in the least.

Our have you rarely ever seen a good 6'5" athlete before?

The retirement of Lewis left two fit but (low) b-level athletes, a parade of cruisers moving up, and the unfit and dire ... what a wasteland to date.

Embarrassingly unimpressive heavyweight fights (especially over the past decade) = what happens when good and great large sized athletes have better options than boxing.

Lamon is simply not good. No mystery there. The US experience is clear.

Not certain what the best or logical excuse is for the rest of the world ... "football" (i.e., soccer) or rugby? Surely these many countries can't all be populated by such mediocre athletes if the sport is booming or even slightly alive there? Apparently they are though ... hmm.

Brewster was a durable, hard hitting, fighter who also beat Wladimir Klitschko, yet was limited in speed and skill... Sanders defeated a man of such description.. His name was Ross Purity.. Not exactly on Brewster's level but built from the same set of blue prints.. I already picked Brewster to win but in the event that Sanders shows up in the same form that he did for Purity, ie. Fit, motivated, more experienced than he was for Nate Tubbs yet not too old or out of shape as he was for Rahman and Vitali, then he might pull it off.

magoo , unknown nobodies like Will Hinton and King Ipitan beat Purrity as well as guys like Grant , Rahman and Kirk Johnson when they were climbing the ranks.

Truly a sad state of afairs when you have you make a case as Purrity being a good win to excuse Wlads loss to him.

As for the thread. Brewster would put Sanders away. Sanders was nothing special.
