Explain the Ducking History of Great Fighters Part I: Roy Jones

Just a few points to consider:


Roy didn't have 8 months to lose the muscle.

Mackie Shilstone is on record as saying that he tried to talk Roy into staying at HW, because losing muscle can effect the immune system.

Antonio Tarver caught Roy with a beautiful shot, and Roy was in much better condition for the rematch. You have to give credit to Tarver for the punch. However, Buddy McGirt did say that he thought that Roy was on the slide at that point.

You also have to give credit to Glen Johnson for the tactics that he employed. But IMHO, Tarver's defeat had crushed Roy both physically and mentally.

Tarver's age wasn't significant, because he'd only had half of the fights that Roy had had. He didn't turn pro until 28-29. Roy had put his body through a hell of a lot.

With regards to Tarver's weight loss for the Hopkins fight, Mackie trained Hopkins, and he said that he expected Tarver to be flat after his weight loss. Also, Tarver himself stated that he felt as though he had no energy during the fight.

You have been shown proof that Roy and his team tried to make other fights.

If you don't believe guys like Brad Jacobs, because you think he was biased towards Roy, that's fair enough.

But you can't just dismiss quotes from Larry Merchant, Kerry Davis, Jack O'Halloran, and Jim Thomas.

I think I even made a thread way back in the day specifically bashing Rico when he first showed his glass jaw on the forum.

I have never been banned, but may have deserved it a few times for sure.

Loudon, I have the same problem with my wife, she hates it when I log on here, and instantly starts asking me to do random favors around the house as soon as I sit down.:rofl

I also try to make sure I use proper grammar but sometimes I am posting in a rush.. That sometimes means I am not thinking things all the way through like I should. I regret some posts I have made in the past.

It does matter that he was a PED cheat that doesn't mean I just tend to have a different view than most on here about PED's many people are naive to think there are not a lot of Boxers on them or have at least tried them but they are still illegal and I am in no way excusing it or for their use as it is still 'cheating'.

James Toney deserves even more criticism since he was caught twice and there should be questions about his use just like we should question Roy. This is not me just picking on Roy there are a long list of fighters who have been caught and all deserve the same criticism and questions.
