So did Steve Gray come away the more disliked ref than Ian John Lewis today? Man, that really takes some doing.
Head butting and holding aside, Flannagan was the better fighter in there no arguments really Stephen can come back more disciplined and maybe do something but the manner in which he lost will be very hard for him to get over. Good luck to him
i didnt see that flanagan was the better fighter.... and to say "holding aside" is bull.... continuous holding like flanagan did is blatant fouling and for the ref to allow that was incompetency.... it changed the whole complexion of the fite:good
head butting your opponent is far far worse than holding, tell me which fighter doesnt hold , the same can't be said mate for what Stephen done please don't excuse him from what he done, at least he was a man and apologised afterwards
I can actually see it from both Billy and Fras point of view here. 1. I would far rather be cuddled than head-butted, so Billy is deffo correct about head butting being a far nastier offence. 2. With all the pain and suffering a guy like Ormond goes through, with his livelihood at stake etc I can't say I'm too surprised that a guy snaps from time to time under dire provocation. The actual scorecards might well be a far greater scandal here IMO.
Whilst I did think the holding deserved a warning, I don't think the DQ can really be argued. There was quite an obvious low blow from Ormond as well. It was a good fight though, I very much enjoyed it. Had Flanagan ahead by two when the fight was called off, seemed like he was starting to take control of the fight. Ormond can work his way back from this though; he's a very durable fighter and showed he is no less than competitive at Euro level. I'd back Flanagan over Diaz (though I do suspect it'll be close), but unsure at if he could really remain at world level for too long.
