Because...this is the the biggest fight in the history of all boxing? Because, outside of boxing fans, no one really cares about the "entire sport" unless it involves Pacquiao vs Mayweather?

:huh:think Mayweather is older and has been boxing much longer than Pac. YDKSAB. Pac is the one who waited for Floyd to get older.

Really!? Go tell that to Froch and Wlad who always sell out their venues in HUGE stadiums. You have a very narrow view of boxing Antonio.

If Floyd hasn't signed yet, NOBODY should be getting excited. Everyone knows PAc wants this fight, him signing shouldn't be surprising to anyone, its Floyd signing that will be big news, until then I'm not holding my breath.

One is the greatest fighter of his generation, the other is a complete fraud. Pac would KO him, nothing close about it. Fights not happening anyway.

Lance Pugmire just tweeted that the Networks are finishing off a few small details.

That's huge! I didn't think they were that close. Props to both HBO and Showtime for their work on this monumental contractual agreement. It had to be incredibly difficult for both.

Froch and Wlad are nothing compared to Mayweather and Pacquiao because they're not close to as well-known in the casual fan base. Honestly, I talk to people who don't know boxing and they only know Mayweather and Pacquiao's name and would only watch that fight.

Even today I was at the studio, and my friend said, "Hey, I don't care about boxing, but that is one fight that I will watch."

    They are household names.

The thing is with May/Pac fight is it can bring back casual fans to the sport of boxing and rejuvante. Wlad and Froch are GREAT fighters, but they can't do that.

It's not narrow-minded. It's a sad POV, but it is the realistic POV as well.

Historically, I can't agree that Pacquaio vs Mayweather is the biggest fight in boxing.

I can think of several others that were more meaningful.

For instance, Jack Johnson vs James Jeffries, Joe Louis vs Max Schmeling, Ali vs George Foreman, etc, etc.

You mean the biggest in terms of revenue??? Perhaps, but even then, you would have to adjust the numbers for inflation, plus the mechanisms put in place today concerning both the availability and ability to make consumers pay were not in place at that time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for this fight too, but at the end of the day it's just a 30 minute beat down of Mayweather.
