Anybody see the photo of Archie Moore in the back of the latest Ring Magazine? It was taken in 1938 when Archie was 24/25 .

Though then a middleweight, he looks huge sitting on a stool , his then manager Jack Richardson looking down at him.

    Moore's record at the end of 1938 was 30-2-2 with 24 ko's.
It's a sobering thought it would be a further 14 years before he would get his title shot against Joey Maxim.

You can find it by googling 1938 photo of Archie Moore it's in a montage.

    Try www getty images.co.uk.
The Ring is now £ 4.95, way too much for a tight Jock.
Actually it's not a bad issue, an appraisal of Wlad, GGG an article on Groves /Degale,a write up of Kovalev v Hopkins, and Manny /Floyd,and no tits and bum card girl taking 3 pages.

I refuse to believe Archie Moore was ever young.

WOW Young Archie, he has veins popping out of his thighs, good vascularity probably indicates he was very fit and is 1 of the reasons he aged so well.

I dont think we will see anyone like the Archie, he was powerful, smart and scientific and super-fit for a powerful man and kept a lot of secrets to himself

    Great photo! Thanks for posting!

One really has to wonder what might have been had he gotten a title shot all those years earlier.
