Now just a minute I'm a big admirer of Manny Steward as anyone but look at the things he's said about fighters
Whan Manny was training McCall he said the McCall Ko was planned. The when with Lewis Manny said he was the best since Ali. When with Wlad he says Wlad was the best. He's just building up his fighter good trainers do that.
Wlad haD HIS CHANCE AT lEWIS BUT RAN FOR THE HILLS

He just did against Pulev, where he pressured to get inside and use short left hooks.

Then why did Steward say that Lewis retired in order to avoid a rematch with Vitali? Lewis was his fighter, not Vitali.

Everyone knows Lennox nearly took Vitali's face off when he was barely 80% in shape. TKO 6!! What was the incentive to do it AGAIN!!!!!!.. Lennox wasn't Manny's fighter when he said that anyway Wlad was Lennox had retired. You never saw Wlad or Manny ever try to get a Lennox-Wlad fight did you?? Both knew better

    Whew......someone got mad there:lol:

Vitali never was Manny's fighter and Manny was critical of Vitali being in training camps with Wlad, but he still said his fighter, Lennox Lewis, retired because "he didn't want any part of that man."

    That's from Steward's book.

I didn't even know who lewis dad was till today. This isn't proofing anything, it was a fun fact. nthe klitchkos dad doesn't look tall either. But most fans know of him. I doubt many people knew lewis' father, he never mentions him, because he wasn't there in his sons upbringing, but we all know lewis strong relationship with his mum. He's a mummy's boy. But don't take that to heart either Dixie.

Both are great fighters but Lewis is better. Better wins, fewer losses, more avenged losses...just plain better.

Wladdy is really forging a legacy and will also be remembered as great, but it is very difficult to see how he surpasses Lewis. If he would stick around long enough to break Joe Louis' record of defenses, then a case could be made, but given that Lewis just plain has the higher quality wins, I still wouldn't buy it.

If you are talking about the number times Wlad has been dropped, lost a pro fight, not rematched opponents that have beaten him then yes in those regards Wlad has surpassed Lewis.

Lewis wasn't appreciated in his day. He was often dismissed as a boring safety first fighter who ruled a weak era cos the best were past their best.

It will be interesting to see how Wlad is remembered.

To be totally honest, I think Wlad has left a better legacy (providing he also retires as champ ) due to the length of his reign. His resume will never be as strong though and noone will ill ever convince me he'd beat Lennox.

Lewis was able to walk down Vitali, able to get inside and rip his face off. I don't see Wlad having much success. If you can walk down Vitali you can walk down damn near anyone (apart from maybe Foreman and Liston?)
