Is Haye's win over Valuev better than every one of Vitali's wins?

If we put both boxers' HW resumes together and made a top 5, what would it look like?

    Mine:

    1. Valuev
    2. Adamek
    3. Sanders
    4. Peter
    5. Hide

Solis fight was strange. I regarded Solis highly prior to the Vitali fight and he did ****ing well for like 2:30 but then succumbed to his weight and went on to never achieve anything worthwhile ever again. Can't really rate that win.

Honorable mention goes to Kirk Johnson, who's a bit of a mention-worthy candidate as well.

I, however, think that Valuev is the best scalp out of all their opponents.

Vitali stopped all the opponents you listed. Haye fought in a disgraceful manner throwing a paltry 11.9 punches a round in a boring fight in which he literally backpeddled around the ring for 12 rounds and nicked a Decision win. Is that really impressive? :think

Impressive? Not sure. Irrelevant to the topic? Yeah.

It's hard top rate Haye's win over SNV very highly. SNV was pretty much shot by then. He was coming off a loss to an 85 year old Holyfield! Sure SNV got the decision, but Holyfield beat him more convincingly than Haye did.

The best win might be Sanders. Sure Sanders was way past his prime too and even in his prime he was never all that special, but he was coming off a decisive win over Wlad.

Yall forgot that Holyfield got robbed in Valuevs previous fight?

The dude got outboxed in back to back fights by guys who were 100 pounds lighter than him.
    Valuev was a joke

I think it is pretty relevant. It was a disgraceful performance. One of the most boring Heavyweight 'title' fights right up there with Ruiz-Oquendo, Ruiz-Rahman, Byrd-Williamson, etc.

I was rooting for David Haye in that fight. I was a big supporter of his at the time. I thought he'd bring a breath of fresh air to the heavyweights. (I was wrong.) And I desperately wanted to see him stop Valuev in the last round ... because I thought Valuev deserved the decision.

For all the **** Valuev gets about supposedly not deserving the decision in the Holyfield fight ... Valuev did deserve the decision in the Haye fight.

It's too bad neither Klitschko would ever fight Valuev. I remember Vitali and Valuev negotiated quite a bit, and even met on their own a few times, but the Klitschkos always insisted Valuev dump Don King as part of the deal. And when he didn't, they offered him less money. It was just all this bullcr*p. When boxers tell a challenger you can't get a title shot unless you dump your promoter, etc., they're just looking for reasons to not make the fight.

I always wanted to see Wlad or Vitali fight Valuev. I wanted to see how the brothers would do against a guy who could take a shot, was bigger than they were and could match them jab for jab.

    It would've been interesting.

Had it been a clean and not injury-prompted KO1 of Solis that would be the best W on eeither résumé (not just at HW but counting Haye's time at cruiser).

As it stands, yeah, Valuev is probably the best HW win between them. :!:

No heavyweight fight was as bad as Byrd-Williamson.

The worst heavyweight "title" fight I ever watched (and never watched again).

Yeah I agree with that. Then again, I don't know if Vitali would've beaten a fit Solis that night so it's not a given.

Who is this "fit Solis" you speak of?
A fit Solis is as rare as bigfoot and the lock-ness monster.

Valuev would be a singular win better than any other singolar one on Vitali's resume.

But, Valuev was shot at the times he got beat by Ruslan Chagaev first, and then Haye.

So it's a shady win, without that much value.

I worded that poorly. I meant a Solis who doesn't break his legs fighting.

No, he was shot. And he had legitimate reasons to be. He was never really healthy to begin with, since his gigantism was the pathologic kind one, and that kind of pathology makes you degrade way faster than average human beings. He had bone degeneration or something.
He only kept fighting because he was trying to break Marciano's record, and he came close to that, until a dwarf in Chagaev managed to outboxe him better than Haye or Holyfield together did.
