    Serge,

    Ha!

No, I definitely typed clown. But I think it was because they thought I was trying to cause trouble between the other members.

That's bad. That was uncalled for. A ban was completely unnecessary.

I remember Glynn and buying Boxing Monthly. I used to love it, and I always thought it was the best magazine. I always preferred it to the Ring etc. How times have changed with the internet. I haven't bought a magazine for years. I just come on here everyday and go on the scene.

    I get that.

But it doesn't make sense when people say he roided all of his career, then suddenly went to sh*t when he stopped. Because again, there was a four year gap. Then you have to consider other factors, such as his age, the weight gain and the loss, and the psychological implications after suffering a crushing defeat.

    Ha!

I remember that I asked you last year, if your wife has issues with you spending time on here.

My mate's just joined here. He's a really nice lad. His username is City Boxer. I told him that if he joined, he'd probably become addicted. But he said that he didn't think that he would be. But after a few days of joining up, his Mum popped around to see him, whilst he was in the middle of a thread. Apparently, his Mum had to ask him four times to go and put the kettle on for a drink. Ha! He just kept ignoring her, because he was debating on the classic.

I hate bad grammar. Mine's not perfect, but sometimes I'll reread what I've wrote and I'll cringe at my mistakes, especially if it's the following day. I once stayed up really late one night, and I wrote that a fighter was passed his best.

Btw, I don't know if you've noticed this as much as I have, but one of the most common misspelt words, is lose. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people type loose instead of lose.

    Foxy,

    Bingo!

That's what I'm trying to tell you.

If HBO had had proof that Roy didn't want to fight Dariusz, that's exactly what they would have said.

When Roy fought Ricky Frazier, Larry Merchant apologised to the fans, and called the fight garbage.

Again, his two biggest critics were Merchant and Ron Borges.

Go and watch the pre Brannon interview. Roy named several fighters who he offered seven figure sums to fight. Jim Lampley said that Frankie Liles had never been offered seven figures before. Frankie Liles's manager Jack O'Halloran, also backed up what Roy had said. He said that Frankie had a great fight lined up with Roy, but he blew it at the last moment. O'Halloran was convinced that they could have taken Roy. And when Liles turned down the fight, O'Halloran left him, and branded him foolish.

    What more do you want?

    I agree.

But Roy didn't simply express a desire to fight people, and then start name dropping.

He went to HBO, and said "you find me a suitable opponent to fight, and I'll fight them."

But they couldn't find him one at that point in time.

When he was asked in the interview who he'd made offers to, that was obviously just for the benefit of the audience.

HBO knew who he'd made offers to, because they tried to make the fights together.

There's always many factors to consider.

But the interview with O'Halloran, along with the Brannon one, proves that Roy genuinely issued those challengers.

Again, if Roy hadn't have been truthful, HBO would never have aired it.

If his network publicly ripped him in front of millions of viewers, then you also have to look at the times when they publicly supported him.

I expect an intelligent guy such as yourself, to think logically and be objective.

The fact that Jack O'Halloran said that they had a GREAT fight lined up, speaks volumes.

    Foxy 01,

    He didn't.

He'd kept his physique, and his team had negotiated with Jim Thomas for a potential fight against Evander Holyfield, as well as with Corrie Sanders's team, in August. The Tarver fight was signed in September. He only had a few months to drop the weight.

Again, he took the Tarver fight, after a big money fight had failed to materialise. An Evander Holyfield fight was extremely close to being made. There's great excerpts available from Jim Thomas's book, that goes into specific details.

    I'm always fair.

Tarver deserves a lot of credit, and Roy was a lot stronger physically for the rematch.

Roy was still a great fighter at that point, but he was past his absolute best at 35.

You don't have to be in gym wars to put your body through a lot. Roy had been training relentlessly since he was a child, under the brutal regime of his father. By the time he'd reached 35, he'd had 50 pro fights, through five divisions, and he'd been up to HW and back. Gaining lean mass and then losing it quickly, has to take a toll, like Mackie Shilstone alluded to.

Yes. It was the Rocky film.

I love it too. I used to buy all the boxing mags: The Ring, KO, World Boxing, International Boxing Digest, Boxing News, Boxing Monthly obviously, and maybe one other. Now I don't buy any. I kind of miss them though as you used to get a lot of good info and interviews in them.

You know my views on Roid's roiding. I will not buckle nor bend under pressure. I think his father was probably pumping him full of them since he was in nappies (or diapers for our roided up friends from across the pond). I do think the psychological effects of suffering a crushing defeat probably played a big factor too though. Once that aura of invincibility is gone it's gone for ever. Your opponents become less fearful from there on in and in turn your confidence obviously takes a hit too. :good

We can go on with this for a thousand pages if you like.

This is seeing things from Dariusz' point of view.

On 13 June 1997, he defeated Virgil Hill over 12 rounds to add Hill's Lineal, WBA, & IBF titles to his own. However, Michalczewski soon lost both alphabet titles. The WBA immediately stripped him for displaying its belt along with that of the WBO, an organization it didn't recognize. Michalczewski was then forced to relinquish the IBF title when he was unable to defend the title in a court-ordered defense against mandatory challenger William Guthrie within a little over a month after the bout with Hill.

After beating Hill, Michalczewski knocked out 14 consecutive opponents, all in defense of his Lineal/WBO titles. In 1998, he defeated Drake Thadzi, in 1999 he defeated Montel Griffin, and in 2000 he defeated Graciano Rocchigiani.

Darius would attempt for six years to secure a bout with his American counterpart, Roy Jones Jr, without success. After his titles were stripped from Dariusz, Jones would win Michalczewski's belts and spuriously declare himself "undisputed world champion". Jones steadfastly refused all offers for a lucrative fight with Darius and even made an attempt to ban the mention of Michalczewski's name on his home network, HBO. Seth Abraham, president and CEO of HBO, refused Jones demand and in 2002 a fan poll showed that the fight fans most wanted to see was Darius Michalczewski vs Roy Jones Jr. Jones continued to refuse offers for the fight however. One of his motivations may have been due to the fact that the offers were for the fight to be held in Europe, where Jones feared he could only win by a knockout.

It was 11 years after his being robbed on a TOTALLY different CONTINENT before Jones refused to defend the belts he'd been gifted after Dariusz was stripped of them, that he came outm with the feeble excuse about not fighting out of the US. Just as you like to say it wasn't Roids fault that Dariusz, was stripped well it was hardly Dariusz either was it?

As the article states Jones was SPURIOUSLY claiming to be the best 175 pounder in the world, but it is obvious to anyone with a logical brain, as opposed to a fan boy brain that simply wasn't the case.

I believe Universum and DM's people have just as much if not more credibility, than Jones, or HBO, so I don't see where you get the " bingo " bit from. I am saying I believe Davis is far more likely to lie than anyone from Universum, because that is what Americans are apt to do. Slating Jones for asking for certain purses that are not warranted due to the opponents faced, is a completely different thing to admitting Jones was offered 12 million to go to Germany, but turned it down.

No Murican TV exec, promoter, manager, trainer, involved with a Murican fighter alleged to be a top 3 p4p fighter would EVER, EVER, admit that. It simply goes above their over inflated ego's.
