Which stiff will Wilder defend his title against first

Szpilka is an okay fight for a first voluntary defense. Tarver, on the other hand, isn't worthy of a shot at Wilder. Jonathan Banks is a part-time boxer--and a part-time boxer who only showed up for the paycheck against Tarver.

 

I would be happy with someone like Mansour, Browne, Chagaev etc

To be fair, I don't expect some world class opponent for the first title defense, especially considering that Wilder still needs experience.

However, if he can only pick a voluntary opponent from the WBC rankings, then we might don't get a decent opponent.

Andy Ruiz would be a joke, Manuel Charr as well (actually he would have been be a decent opponent if he didn't lose to Povetkin recently).

Carlos Takam would be fine if he was coming off a good win instead of a loss.

Solis-Thompson winner would actually be fine.

So, judging by the WBC rankings and considering the opponents who are actually available, Tyson Fury and Lucas Browne would be the best options. However, I don't think that he will be put against either of those two. Let's just hope it isn't someone like Szpilka, Arreola, Ruiz or Molina.

 

Bryant Jennings obviously would've had a better chance against Wilder than he has against Wladimir Klitschko...
