I am a huge Klitschko fan but rate Lewis higher and liked Lewis in his day

I didn't like how he handled the Vitali rematch and follow up but I get it

Lewis was a great heavyweight but maybe you over microscoped his career

I'd say Lewis might have the better/more recognized wins while Wlad had more time as the unified and dominant champion

Wlad did beat lots of good but not great guys he didn't have old greats lingering that he could feast on like most other great champs did

I know we discredit Marciano over Louis, Holmes over Ali, Tyson over Holmes and Lewis over Tyson but it's a right of passage

The old timers will say the above wins mean nothing but will also say Klitschko has no marquee names and use the above as examples of past fighters fighting HOF guys

Wlad to his credit beat a lot of near prime highly rated never or once beaten guys and fought an array of styles

Sorry to turn it into a Wlad post but it's hard to have a Lewis thread without it hapoening

Hey I made a thread about Lewis' record but the Lewis****s made it into a Vitali thread. I'm more concerned with how Wladimir is regarded as opposed to Vitali.

Wlad is forging his own legacy, but unfortunately, it won't be as good as Lewis's.

Here's something that will always haunt him no matter what

Wlad did not fight the best of his era, and I understand that it was Vitali and they were brothers but that doesn't matter when we ****yse his resume or compare it with the other HW champs. They fought the best of their era and managed to overcome them. Wlad did not fight Vitali, Vitali did not fight Wlad. That will never change.

But Wlad still has time to make improvements to his own, but as it is looking atm, it just doesn't seem like it will be significant enough to lift him to the next echelon.

Wlad will be a top 10 ATG HW boxer and that cannot be denied and that will most likely not change. Even if he breaks Joe Louis' record, it still won't change much. The opposition in this era is very poor.

I don't hold the lack of a Vitali fight against Wlad but imagine Solis Arreola Chisora and Adamek on his resume and Mormeck Wach Pianeta and leapai off

I think Wlads consistency longevity and wins vs ranked opponents will take him a long way as well as former title holders

He was in a transitional era without aged greats to feast on like most champs do...I know we like to say those wins don't matter cause the guys were shot but what would we say about Holmes if Ali was t on his record or Louis on Marcianos. We like to down play the wins while still acknowledging some degree of significance

Wlad has reigned so long that many guys he beat won't and didn't get a chance to succeed after Wlad retired so they can't enhance themselves further

Holmes beat a few guys who went on to hold the WBA or WBC later on because he didn't unify and prevent them from building a legacy to improve the win

His longevity/dominance in this era are the primary reasons as to why he's a top 10 HW.

If he could do it with great opposition, this would be a different story. He would be higher, but it just doesn't have the names that you would expect from a top 5 HW ATG.

I just don't see how you do not hold him not fighting the best of his era when people do the same with May.

May gets criticized for NOT fighting Pac (1a and 1b)

Wlad gets a pass for not fighting Vitali (1a and 1b)

Doesn't work like that, I'm sorry. Yes they're brothers but when we talk about resumes, it's mostly about quality of opposition. Not fighting the best will be an asterisk that a fighter has to live with.

If he had those fighters you named, it would be a good boost but the fact that his ledger does NOT have Vitali has to leave a black mark somewhere.

Lewis is overrated without a doubt. Some fanboys try to say he was the best ever. He wasn't even the best HW since Holmes, let alone all time! :patsch

Lol Zakman, the reason you don't view Lewis in a higher light, is it because you think he has a glass jaw? :think

Vitali outboxed Lewis. He was up on all scorecard at the time of stoppage.
