A question to Roy Jones Jnr fans about his win over J Toney

Please read the questions before answering

Roy clearly beat Toney in that SMW title fight, but I would like to know why so many rate that win as high as they do, when you consider that Toney had

- drawn with S Williams
- been taken to a SD by M Sosa
- was behind against M Nunn before the finish
- was taken to a SD by R Johnson
- drawn with M McCallum
- had a SD with Tiberi where some felt he lost
- a MDec with McCallum

His fight before Jones was a tough fight where one judge had him behind before the finish.

So why do the fans rate this win so high?
Is it because on paper Toney was undefeated even though there are some who feel he lost the Tiberi fight?

So was it the 0 that many feel isnt important as to why you rate the win so high?

 

I think it often comes down to hype and being recognised Hans.
You have great fighters who arent known and they get overlooked.
Some years ago I did a thread asking fans on ESB, how they thought a fight would go between Bradley and Provodnikov (it was years before the fight happened). Many laughed at the thread and then years later they fought and it was as I predicted a tough close fight. Now Provodnikov is known, the same people who mocked would pretend otherwise

You really said it all there. It was the 0 and a magazine mythical rating. That sums you up nicely.
I am not mentioning Toneys mythical P4P rating. I am mentioning the actual fights and results, like the Tiberi result. Still you have tried rewriting history and say 46-0. Theres only one real 46-0.
Have you seen the tough fight Toney had before he fought Jones?

So you rate the win because of Toneys 0, is that correct?

 

Yes there are many uneducated posters on ESB and sadly I have asked a simple question and instead of reading the points and answering, some have started to litter this great thread in a defensive manner because they cannot give a sensible answer to the questions. Im just glad that a good educated poster like yourself has graced these pages
