You most certainly have told me Roy HAD to fight Ruiz because he had wanted to fight Holyfield and Ruiz beat him. But, we can see that no Roy could have fought THE champion but he was reluctant to and fought the guy that nobody else even was bothered to fight because everyone knew who THE champion was and that is the fight that mattered not fighting Johnny Ruiz who not only was awful but had a meaningless paper belt that nobody cared about well except Roy Jones :rofl

You don't have to tell me that Roy beating those guys didn't mean anything.

    :patsch

    Nobody has claimed otherwise.

Shall I pick out all of the weak names that those other fighters fought?

What savage punchers were available to Roy?

    I enjoy debating with you.

With regards to a Hagler fight, why not?

    Again, Roy was bigger.

    He was stronger.

He had great variation and power.

    He was faster.

He had better reflexes and was harder to hit.

He was just as skilled, if not more so.

Roy would have held a lot of advantages, and his speed would have been a huge concern to Marvin.

Don't tell me that Duran could push him close, but it's a fantasy to suggest that Roy could have beaten him.

They were the main belts of the LHW division.

Who says that Roy was afraid to fight Dariusz?

I just noticed, I live right up the interstate from you in Portland. Only been here for nine montns or so and hate the entire State.

Hopefully I can encounter a Bigfoot so I can get a productive conversation that does not involve smoking weed.

Is this a serious question? See this is why I am convinced you have some disorder such as Aspergers. How could you ask such with a straight face :rofl

We are talking about different punches and the ones you linked (after the original post) do not prove one thing about Jones or his Chin. Lets see him take a punch from Lennox, Wlad, Vitali, Sanders, Brewster, etc. Ruiz was a feather fisted oaf.

You're not going to tell me that Larry Merchant, Jim Lampley, Kerry Davis, Brad Jacobs, Murad Muhammad, Ron Borges, Thomas Hauser, Jim Thomas, Dan Rafael, Stanley Levin, Fred Levin, Greg Fritz, and Jack O'Halloran etc, all lied.

So Roy should have gone to Germany and put three belts up against one, against a guy who cheated against Roch, because of the result of a poll?

Why aren't you looking at Dariusz's resume, and questioning why he didn't go to the U.S. to reclaim his old belts?

    Foxy 01,

What do you mean spare you from seeing things from Roy's perspective?

That's the only way to see things, when an*lysing his actions.

Again, it wasn't Roy's fault what happened to Dariusz.

Do you seriously think he was going to go to Germany in 2001, because of what had happened to Dariusz in 1997?

    Come on!

    Boxing is a business.

Roy had everything to lose, and hardly anything to gain.

Dariuszs was undefeated, but his biggest win was against Hill, and he held the lightly regarded WBO belt.

Roy was never going to make concessions to fight him in Germany, and nor should he have had to.

Yes, if he'd have gone, that would have been great. But nobody could have expected him to have gone.

    :good

Again, don't try to tell us that HBO would happily have aired that interview, if they hadn't have legitimately tried to have made Roy those fights.

    You are being utterly ridiculous.

Again, you also have quotes from Liles's manager, and there was nothing tame about Ron Borges, when it came to Roy.

I didn't say he had to. I said that Roy's initial target was Evander. They'd had talks in 1998, and then Roy spoke to him again just prior to his final fight with Ruiz in 2001. After Evander didn't win the belt back, Roy decided to stay at LHW a little longer. He then tried to fight Hopkins, before having two mandatories until the opportunity to fight Ruiz presented itself.
