Yeah, I was keen to have a look at Sutcliffe on the O'Kane vs. Fitzgerald II undercard but it wasn't televised. 2nd chance would've been the Frampton vs. Parodi/O'Kane vs. Hope card since it was aired on BoxNation, but they only started their coverage with McCullough vs. Casey halfway into the undercard.

Collins, I saw in his draw with Tommy Gifford on the Chisora vs. Johnson undercard on BN. I actually scored it for him 40-36 but I can see why the ref gave the last couple of rounds to Gifford. Collins is raw indeed, but given the late start and transitioning from rugby I'm willing to extend him a little benefit of the doubt on the learning curve. He obviously is athletic for starters, and has one heck of a valuable resource at home. If he works hard and picks his dad's brain there's no reason he shouldn't improve some.

I'll keep an eye out for McCarthy. :good

Good to see UTV Ireland will be showing the Frampton fight live I hope this is a sign of things to come from UTV Ireland if it does good numbers who knows maybe Barry McGugian might be able to put on a fight or 2 down South with UTV Ireland backing them. Or am I just a dreamer lol.

COLLINS needs to change two thinks big-time if he wants to succeed. First he needs a lot more fights to learn the trade.
Second he needs to shed about 2 stone weight. He is carrying way too much bulk and muscle mass for a boxer. His current physique is fine for a bodybuilder/weightlifter, or a rugby player, etc ...but no top boxer is that heavily built.

Apparently hes already lost about 3 stone.

He was near 17 stone when he played rugby seriously

But how is he going about overcoming his other big problem?: His lack of an amateur career. With the current day level of 'activity' among boxers, he will be doing well to fight more than 4 times per year, which is not enough, and he is not 18 or 19.

Chavez jr overcame his lack of an amateur career by fighting very often at multiple weights until he eventually 'came of age' against Duddy. Collins jr will have to do the same to succeed.

You do realize that Collins was fighting very regularly until he got a bad shoulder injury in that fight he drew in?. He was then out for 9 months or so recovering from it. Since coming back he'll fighting tonight and next month, which will make it 3 fights in four months since coming back, good activity for any sort of prospect

    Hadn't realised that BJ.
He has a lot of catching up to do.
If only that level of activity was common among boxers. Then maybe boxing would be a popular mainstream sport again.

Sutcliffe knocked Needham down four times and had him out in the 1st round

Tommy McCarthy, Turner and Collins jnr all scored stoppages. O'Brien, Carroll and Whitehouse won via decision.
