Which boxers throughout history has always had another boxer's "number"? i.e No matter how hard the other boxer fought the former always came out stronger. Some I can think of off the top of my head: JMM - Pacquiao Tarver - Jones Forrest - Mosley Norton - Ali
Douglas - Tyson Holyfield - Tyson Foreman - Frazier Ali - Liston Norton - Ali Liston - Patterson Hearns - Duran Hagler - Hearns
One that did not make any sense was Hearns/Barkley. Sure, Barkley landing a bomb was a small possibility, but winning a 12 round decision over Thomas Hearns?!
Forrest/Mosley yeah, I see where you are coming from. But the others had a fairly even series of bouts: Marquez turned around one of their bouts with a bomb, but Pacquiao rocked Marquez and pretty much destroyed his nose, before the punch landed. The rest of their fights were generally very, very close. Jones/TarverI was a fairly even bout. And fights two and three in the Norton/Ali series were very even bouts. Norton certainly did not dominate Ali. I think the story there was Norton was better than most thought before their first bout, and that probably included Ali and his team.
Cocoa Kid had it over Holman Williams. Ezzard Charles had Archie Moore's measure. Saddler- Pep is an obvious one.
Maskaev - Rahman and Mayorga - Forrest indeed. Also: Barkley - Hearns (2 a lesser extent) Tony Thompson - David Price. Oliver McCall - Lennox Lewis Nick Wells - Larry Holmes Probably Duane Bobick - Larry Holmes too. Tarver - Jones C Sanders - W Klitschko R Puritty - W Klitschko (Puritty would have had more stoppage wins if he had more 12 rd fights against the same opposition he had) Hard to not believe Hagler - Hearns too.
The first time Pac fought JMM, he was on a 5 year unbeaten streak. The second time a 3 year winning streak. The 3 rd time an even longer winning streak, and this was when the Pacturds were claiming he was the re- incarnation of SRR, and Marciano combined, due to him going up the weights and thoroughly beating bigger guys. Suffice to say out of the first 3 fights, he could never score a convincing win over JMM, hence the reason fans will argue over the verdicts for decades to come. That on its own should convince folks the Mexican always had his number, but the coup de grace is the KTFO - 6.
:rofl:rofl:rofl Scores a KD punch with his eyes closed. Then impersonates a gibbering wreck in the rematch. Put down the crack pipe.
