Make what you will of the step aside money, Lennox can consider himself lucky that he effectively gets a free pass, through no fault of his own of course. Fighting Tyson in 96 would be far from a free pass and His legacy is certainly boosted them not sharing the ring till 02. Lewis not yet at his peak, Tyson with plenty left in his tank and an advantage in experience. Lewis would have to rely on weathering an early storm, much like Holyfield and come on strong late. Lewis has better tools, but not the heart or the chin of the 4 time champ.
It's pretty 50-50 my head says Lewis by late stoppage, but my gut says Tyson has enough left to Lennox Lewis.

Lewis by late KO. Mike nowhere near his best, but better than when they actually fought. Now prime for prime, I'd go with Tyson by Ko.

It would be a better fight than their actual 2002 meeting, but I'd still pick Lewis to beat any post-prison version of Tyson.. The one of the late 80's is a different kettle of fish.

Lewis beats any version of Tyson. Full stop. If soppy Frank Bruno could stop Tyson in his tracks, when he didn't even know he had, and was too scared to do anything about it, Lewis easily destroys him. Lewis was NEVER afraid of anyone in a ring. Respectful, yes, particularly if he KNEW they were good fighters, but fear GTFOH.

Why do you think he went for immediate rematches when he lost. It was only that cretinous scum King that stopped him rematching McCall for 2 and a half years.

If you're going to use his performance against a common opponent, then you should know that a post-prison version of Tyson beat frank with HALF the difficulty that Lewis did.

Lewis was yet to peak in 96 but I still think he would have enough to beat Tyson then.

Tyson physically was probably close to his prime but from a technical stand point he was a very different fighter. He used to slip quality jabs off of the likes of Holmes, Thomas and Biggs and make fighters miss and then counter with power punches in combinations. By 96 he wasn't the same, he was easier to hit and didn't really counter just walk in and lead with single shots, the accuracy was also not the same.

Lewis was all over the place back then. Holding his hands low, arching over, crossing his feet , throwing sloppy punches and used to leave himself wide open throwing a poor jab.

Tyson still had enough to exploit those flaws. His technique was much better and he still had remnants of his old foot work. I think there is a good chance he gets cought and finished off.
He'd give Tyson the space to catch him.

Lewis could have had that fight if he wanted it but he chose not to take it.

Tyson's best days were already long behind him. Lewis, now fighting like a big man and using his height and weight more to his advantage, would weather an early storm from Tyson before wearing him down and stopping him in the later rounds.

And you should learn to read. I already stated Bruno was scared sh itless of Tyson, Lewis did not know the meaning of fear.
