I don't care who he is a fan of. He is still talking sh it if he claims MM was anything like as good as he was in 86 - 88, when he fought Toney in 91.

People remembering him beating Jackson, McCrory, and Curry years before, doesn't mean a thing. At the time Steve Collins was Steve Who? Why do you think the fight was held in Boston, where Irish Americans live?

His fights with Kalambay, Watson and Graham were held in London and Italy, so the Yanks wouldn't have known or cared about them.

He started to decline as he passed 30, by the time he was 35 he was nothing like he was in his late 20's, and when your boy got him he was totally finished. Harding merely flattered to deceive.

You even admitted you were only 12 when Toney fought Tibeiri, so with all due respect, you only saw the tail end of McCallum.

I'm in my forties now, and remember McCallum from when he first arrived on the world scene, and what you stated is hogwash.

I can't disagree with anything you've wrote here.

All I'm saying is, despite being past his absolute peak, Mike was still elite when he fought Toney in 1991.

Yes, I was too young to have seen Mike fight in his peak. I've had to go back and look at his fights on YouTube etc.

    I've just turned 35.

    How old are you mate?

Well well there is a surprise. Tell me what do you think the result would have been of a survey conducted in Jamaica, or even the whole of the Caribbean?

Actually, McCallum had just turned 34 (6 days prior) when he faced Toney. He was 32 and change went he went on a tear through British supermiddleweight greats.

You have to get your ages right here, especially if you're going to split hairs.

Lets just say I'm a fvcking lot older than you, UNFORTUNATELY. You got a long time to live, and I hope you enjoy every day of it. I disagree that Mike was still elite at 35, in much the same way as you would say Jones was still elite, at that age. I'm not saying he was shot, merely that he was declining steadily but surely.

Take yourself, I don't know if you play any sport, but if you do, can you honestly say you perform as well now as you did 6 or 7 years ago?

Assuming you don't destroy yourself with ciggs, and booze, I'd still say it was a safe bet you couldn't.

On a side note. I might be off to classic for longer periods again as these Pac / May threads on general are breeding like rabbits now.

I'm just watching Mike spar Tommy Hearns on YouTube.

So I wanted to put you on the spot.

What would have happened if Mike had fought the Fab Four at MW, and also, what would have happened if Mike had fought GGG?

    Thanks.

Who was better, the 1988 Mcallum that lost to Kalambay or the 1991 Mccallum that beat Kalambay?

I think you need to go back to school. If you are born on the 7th December 1956, and you fight on the 13 December 1991, you are 35.

Lets try and make it easy for you, like they do with 4 year olds.

    6 + 5 = 11

When you have solved that part, I'll explain about the tens. ( decades )

You obviously haven't seen both fights, otherwise you wouldn't ask such a stupid question.

How is your arithmetic coming along?:roll:

    That's cool mate.

    Great post!

    I can respect your opinion.

You must have seen some great fights if you're older than me.

I've had to go back and look at many careers.

I've only got to know about Michael Spinks in the last 2 years or so.

I bet me and you could have a great drink together, and I'd be throwing hundreds of fantasy fights at you.

One that immediately pops in to my head, is Spinks vs Kov.

Start with the latest one first. For sure GGG ain't knocking Mike out. The question is can he take Mike's body shots?

As for the fab 4. There are rumours ( not that they count for much ) that when Mike bumped into Leonard at a fight in Las Vegas, and tried to get some explanation as to why he couldn't get to fight him / them, Leonard is supposed to have said I can't speak for Hagler, but i'd say the other 3 of us wouldn't be interested. High risk, low reward.

This would have been around the mid 80's, when Leonard had beaten Howard, and was talking of retiring, not retiring, his usual bollox.

I like watching GGG, but he's still unproven for me. I don't see how he'd have beaten Mike.

I've heard that rumour regarding Ray before. I've got his autobiography, but I've only read the first few chapters. Maybe Mike's mentioned somewhere?

Have you got any predictions on what you think would have happened if he'd have fought the Fab Four?

Credit where it is due. Spinks was a great Light Heavy. Obviously saw the money for Heavy fights as opposed to going to Cruiser. I'd say at this stage Spinks would be too crafty for Kov, but who knows what the future holds for him?

On a side note my twin sons, which are the youngest, are 10 years older than you on Sunday March 1st. So all I'll admit is I'm over 65.:lol::lol::rofl
