What do people mean when they say Pacquiao can trouble Floyd because he's a southpaw? Floyd has fought at least six southpaws. Reggie Sanders, Judah, Corley, Guerrero, Ortiz, and Mitchell. Yes, granted, none of them are as good as Pacquiao, but the point is, he's had plenty of experience against them. He knows how to deal with them.

...and Ortiz was his easiest fight in the last decade.

Because Floyd has shown consistent habits and trouble against average and below average southpaws.

Pacquiao is the best southpaw of this era.

He said his focus this fight is going to be getting faster, so he'll probably be staying around the 144-145 range for this fight. I think the smaller Pacquiao has shown to have more power anyways.

Or could it be they both declined?? Even if they have declined , both are still the best out there. Best fights available.

Did I say he was?

Point is, two of Mayweather's last five opponents were southpaws. They were, along with Marquez, his two easiest nights' work since Baldomir.

Mayweather doesn't struggle with southpaws. :deal

On the other hand, you could say Ortiz and Guerrero are nowhere near the level of Pacquiao. :deal

This wasn't an extension of a levels conversation, though. It was a response to a dredged-up longstanding theory about Mayweather somehow finding southpaws immensely difficult just by virtue of their being southpaw. Not the case, demonstrably.

Even if you want to amend the statement to "high-level southpaws with very good hand speed" - not the case. Mayweather dropped a few rounds to Zab Judah, sure, but then he firmly took command and never let go.

    1) I never made any reductive statements about Pacquiao struggling with 'technical' boxers.

    2) When people do say that, generally they are referring to Marquez (even though Mayweather and Marquez are very different stylistically, but they are both technically skilled counter punchers)

    3) Bradly is a technical boxer? :huh

Well in that case, yes. Mayweather's difficulty against southpaws is a bit overstated. But my point still stands though, Pacquiao is a different level from all the guys Mayweather has faced. Mayweather is a different level from all the guys Pacquiao has faced. So IMO it's still up in the air.
