I also think Mayweather could trade if he had too. IMO, that's when his power is most dangerous because when he begins trading is when he really begins to sit on his punches.

 

Better at throwing combinations? Mayweather is usually content throwing one or two shots before going on the defensive again.

Are you talking about Marquez or Maroid? Don't get the two mixed up. 3 fights with PAC and Marquez couldn't even get a knock down. I think you're trying to refer to Maroid.

I also think Marquez is a better body puncher. Mayweather is great at jabbing to the body, but Marquez is better at landing the harder body shots. I could be wrong of course, but that is my impression.

 

I would argue a "willingness to trade" is not a strength vs Pacquiao. That plays into his hands, and honestly, why Juan got dropped to the canvas on more than one occasion.

Trading with Pacquiao allows him to utilize his hand speed and excellent punching technique. Cotto ran into the same issue. Was doing well when he was boxing and staying behind his jab. Soon as he opened up to trade, he got clipped.

It is "foolish" to get into a trade with Pacquiao. VERY FOOLISH.

True, but it seems to be the only way to beat him. Pacquiao has 5 (really 4) game-plans to beat him and in all it was engaging with him.

 

He beat him by feinting and boxing. Not by trading. Pacquiao got clipped from a right hand counter over that sorry excuse for a jab of his.

When Juan would go into "Mexican Aztec Warrior" mode, Pacquiao would win the exchange, and usually, the round. When Juan would box and be patient, he would get the better of the action.

I still can't believe Roach hasn't worked on developing that jab. It really isn't very good. Maybe he's tried, but Manny just flicks it. He doesn't really do a "true jab" and put some power in it.
