Max Kellerman says this fight could potentially be another Leonard vs Hearns

Max Kellerman was talking about how these two guys are elite. The elite of the elites. Unlike many other Floyd's opponents, if Pacquiao is coming into the 10th round and is down on the scorecards... he's not going to just give up. This is Manny Pacquiao for goodness gracious. The guy who blazed through Barrera, Morales, ODLH, Cotto, Margarito, battled Marquez 4x, beat P4P Bradley, so on so forth. He's an ATG.

Kellerman said we could see Pacquiao down on the scorecards or Mayweather down on the scorecards in the later rounds, though Pacquiao being down is more probable. In the case of Roach telling Pacquiao, "You're giving it away, son. You have to knock him out."

Pacquiao will go out there, like Leonard went out to Hearns when he was leading the scorecards, and go for the KO.

If Pacquiao goes for the knock out, this would make him more dangerous but also more vulnerable. It'll give him chances to win, and a Pacquiao who is going for the kill in a way we've never seen is an extremely dangerous Pacquiao.

It could leave him vulnerable to then be knocked out by Mayweather though too.

However, Kellerman said it's possible that we could see another Leonard vs. Hearns outcome where Pacquiao knocks out Mayweather when Pac realizes that's his only chance to win. I thought it was interesting. What do you think?




P.S the only problem I have with this is, IF the score was far enough away to give late round(s) to Pac, not change the outcome, and Mayweather knows he's up on the scorecards, he could just run around the ring negating Pac's chance to knock him out.

He's on HBO calling blow-by-blow fights and ESPN when we're not, so apparently more than us.

 

Kellerman is absolute golden.

I wonder if he talks in statements in every part of his life.

I believe Mayweather beats Pacquiao badly. I see Pac being KO'd within 10 rounds. So no, I do not see it as another Leonard vs Hearns.

 

He went for the kill against JMM.

Kellerman's ****ogy is so flawed.

Hearns when stunned by Leonard's punches, did'nt know how to hold. Its why he was stopped.
If by chance Mayweather is buzzed a few times, unlike Hearns, Mayweather is the best defensive fighter of his era and he's a master at the art of tying up a fighters hands.

tommy Hearns and Floyd Mayweather jr are completely different fighters defensively. Floyd knows how to hold when he's hurt, and the few instances when someone lands cleanly on him, he usually ends up resetting himself and dominating the remainder of the bout. You're not going to see someone nail him cleanly on a 4 or 5 punch flurry.

And also, we're talking about a 1981 version of SRl who was notorious for his killer instinct anytime he got his opposition in trouble. Not a 36 year old manny pacquiao who hasn't knocked out anyone in over 5 years.

Still, it's an absolute mega fight and hopefully will be a competitive contest. It's a great clash of styles, no doubt.

 

On the flip side, packy aint leonard. And floyd offensively cant hold a candle to hearns. Gotta say these fights are nothing alike.

 

I actually like Max and heard the telecast. I think he was just providing an opinion contrary to a wide Mayweather decision. He was basically saying that Leonard was being out boxed by hearns who got caught with something that changed the fight. And that if Pac could catch Mayweather with something big a similar thing could happen.

 

He's never laced a pair of gloves in his life. The guy is an idiot.
