Bernard Hopkins gives his breakdown of how he expects the May-Pac fight to unfold.

     TWEET (30) SHARE PIN
In an interview with FightHype, Bernard Hopkins breaks down how he envisions the Mayweather-Pacquaio fight to play out.

"Not only will I break the fight down for you, I will give you a prediction. Now, I could be wrong, but then again, I could be right..." began Hopkins.

Nice one B-Hop! I just ended the quote there because I found that little tidbit to be particularly special. I could be wrong about that, but then again, I could be right. (Note: I should've came up with something more clever than that but my brain is still in first gear - please don't hold it against me). Anyway, Hopkins continues his ****ysis...

"The first 5 or 6 rounds, it's going to be a back and fourth fight because of Pacquiao's aggression. But Pacquiao is not the best defensive fighter. Mayweather is going to sharp shoot, and not only is Mayweather going to fight back when he needs to, but after that 6th round, it's done," stated future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins.

"Hey, listen, there will be people that's so upset because they charging people money, they are going to be so upset because in the second half, it somehow turned into such easy work that they are going to feel like there was some type of corruption or foul play or pollution in the air. They are gonna make up all kinds of excuses (laughing). I believe the second half of these 12 rounds gonna be target practice for Floyd. And it's going to be a situation where, is he putting a show on just so people can get their monies worth or is it just that easy. That's my bold statement and I stick by it, now let's wait 8 to 9 weeks and see what happens,"

Hey hey hey, let's not jinx the fight. I don't want to hear talk of corruption or foul play in any way, shape, or form prior to the fight. I also don't want to hear any sore losers from either the fighters or the respective fan bases afterwards, talking about what might've happened 5 years ago. I don't care if both fighters are past their prime, if Mayweather wins then he's the superior fighter (then and now), if Pacquiao wins then he is just the same - simple as that. This is for all the marbles...

Hop, we know Hop. Floyd will solve him early, solve the feint straight left right hook and it's over.

after 6 rounds? kind of a stupid argument because he implies floyd will win but if manny gets a knockdown in the first 6 it could be a razor thin fight

well, if that's the case then all i have to say is that Floyd will have to step it up like 5 levels because if he couldn't dominate Maidana, how is he going to pick apart Pacquiao? Pac is virtually better than maidana in every category - speed, experience, confidence, movement, boxing IQ, timing, accuracy etc... list goes on.

anything is possible but for it to be so easy as Hopkins claims it will ne, Floyd will have to take it up several notches....

people somehow think Floyd will be better against Pacquiao than he has looked in his last 5-10 fights or so.... So all of sudden, at 38, Floyd is going to be better than he has been in his last 10 or so fights against the most skilled boxer he has ever faced? kinda strange thinking...

if many people are not giving Pac a chance vs Floyd then why is this the biggest fight of our generation?

I think its a huge fight because Pac (along with Khan) is the only guy with the style to beat Floyd.

Why do you use maidana as a measuring stick for Floyd, when comparing for pac?
Maidana had a weight advantage and fights like a clubbing brute, while manny does not.
And Floyd has looked excellent in his last 10 fights - maybe so so in his last 2, but the others he fought very well.

pac may surprise people and actually win it easily... I mean, Floyd kinda struggled with Maidana and Maidana is a poor man's version of Pacquiao...

    but anything can happen

No way is maidana "a poor mans version of manny"
    They fight nothing a like.
Manny's hands are quick, his feet are quick, he has a bounce in and out style, doesn't come into fights with a 10+lb weight advantage, doesn't bully to the ropes, swing with crazy clubbing overhand rights, etc...

because Maidana is similar to Manny in many ways - very aggressive, never gets tired, throws combinations from awkward angles but actually has worse defense than Pacquiao. If Maidana had faster hands, faster footwork and had more overall skill, you would get Pacquiao.

Floyd also didn't look awesome vs Canelo or Guerrero or Cotto but he's going to toy with Pacquiao? i hear people talking about Floyd hurting Pac cause Pac has no defense. Well, did they watch the Maidana fight at all? Maidana basically charged Floyd for 12 rounds and didn't even worry about covering up, how often did Floyd hurt him? but he'll hurt Pacquiao? how so?

people are stretching it a bit, as if Pacquiao is Gatti or Hatton because many are talking about Floyd toying with Pac or even KO'ing him. We have to go way way back in time to see Floyd doing such things, when he was 10 years younger and when he faced inferior fighters as compared to Pacquiao (eg. Gatti).

just saying, a bit of a stretch...
