Hearing rumours Josh is ready to turn over into the pro ranks and will possibly put pen to paper this weekend with Barry Mcguigan at cyclone promotions

Good luck if he does but I thought the GB boys are under contract?
Expensive to get out the contract I hear, will he be trained by Shane Steve or stay in Edinburgh

Josh was with Frampton and Mcguigan at the SPOTY in glasgow along with the other medal winners in the Scotland team. I did wonder then if something was about to happen. If he does go pro I think going with Barry could be a good shout. Best of luck to him if he does

I would think he would stay with Terry and just be promoted by Barry McGuigan!! I know that GB guys are under contract but the amount to get out of it will be based on how much they get paid by GB. There is different levels of funding depending how successful you are at major tournaments.

Not sure Billy but i believe with injury and very low ranking points from WSB etc it would make it difficult for him to make rio although he has beaten maxwell on numerous occasions i believe, if he was turning over id think shane would be better to train him also under aiba ruling amateur coaches should not be working pro corners and vice versa altho some seem to get away with it

Interesting to hear the rumour, thanks for sharing.

Re the am/pro coaches, the likes of Thain and Appleby train under Terry at Lochend, he's the one that's in their corner on fight night as well is he not? Sure it wouldn't be a problem if Josh wanted to stay with him.

Terry's a very good coach but if someone was investing money in a fighter they might want someone with a track record in the pros and by my comment in no way do I mean to slate terry I'm thinking from an investors point of view

Yes you are correct on the corner as does Rob McCracken but there is an aiba ruling that if you are in pro or armature you shouldnt do both

AIBA Competitions at any level unless this Coach has resigned from any involvement in
professional boxing for a period of at least six (6) months and is certified by AIBA as a

I know Peter Harrison had to stop working with pro's when he took the Scotland job.
But McCracken is head GB coach and Froch's coach so must be an area where dispensation can be given.

no I'm sure Robert just doesn't do the corners in the amateur ranks thus allowing him to work with Carl and others in the pros, Peter has stopped doing the corners in the ams as well
