    Middleweight - 160, 158 or 154 - who cares.

How does this one go, 15-rounds, prime-for-prime.

Walker was legendarily gritty and tough but I like McCallum who I consider to be an all time great with an exceptional chin to dice him up ..

McCallum very clear decision, just a much more complete boxer with a greater variety of tools

i can see walker outworking mike and taking enough rounds for the decision, i can also see mike putting him down a few times and taking his rounds more clearly. really tough fight for both men.

I could imagine it going either way to be honest.

I guess the safer bet would be to go with the more proven Walker.

Yet more underrating and lack of understanding of McCallum and his opposition here

I am a huge McCallum fan and I think this is a toss-up. People owe it to themselves to do more research on Walker. That said, I lean farther toward Walker the higher the weight which unfortunately for McCallum means older.

    Nah, janitor is right.
As great and as proven as McCallum was, Walker's a little level above in that respect.

I'd certainly rate Walker as an even greater fighter than Mike.

But head-to-head I'm utterly sitting on the fence here.
I imagine a very competitive fight with the fighters matching each skill and strength wise.

Walker is arguably top ten p4p of all time.

It is no disrespect to say that he is more proven than somebody.

    Exactly that.

Which is why it is utter bollox for Jones and Toney fans to use their victories over the ageing McCallum, as an example of their ATG ranking.

Based on what? He went 1-1 with an ancient Britton at WW before losing his belt to Latzo who he also shared a series with. He steps up to MW to face Greb and is utterly schooled. He beat a weak LHW Champ and when he faced the MW Champ in Flowers benefited from a massively robbery with no rematch. He beat a few decent inconsistent HWs who had about 20lbs on him which is a decent feat. When he faced the John Ruiz of the LHWs in Loughran he lost.

HE had a very good career I don't think it's great. He is very good but limited and not as great as many people tend to consider him.

I don't see the argument for him being top 10 in any weight class he competed in. Actually I'm not sure he has a good argument for top 20 in any weight class he competed in.

He beat Rosenbloom and Berlenbach in addition to McTigue so I think saying that he beat a weak light heavyweight champ is leaving out some important data.

Paul Berlenbach, Maxie Rosenbloom and Dave Shade are better than anybody McCallum ever beat. Leo Lomski was a powerful and dangerous light-heavyweight contender, more powerful than anyone McCallum ever beat. Jock Malone and Ace Hudkins were excellent middleweight contenders.

Comparing scalps is futile. Walker has him beat by a mile. It's not even close. In a fight he overpowers McCallum and batters him to win a unanimous decision. McCallum has nothing to keep a prime Walker off of him with.
