The P4P Hardest Puncher of his era or not? His KO's are frightening. Golovkin stops people, but Jackson actually turns their bodies and minds off when he stops someone. GGG is more of a systematic breakdown, whereas 'The Hawk' turns their lights off. But was JJ the p4p hardest puncher of his time? And who would you rank 2nd and 3rd in his division at the time - in terms of punching power - behind him? Was he flat out the hardest puncher or do you beg to differ? As I say, just going through some old HL Reels of his and it's scary. More scary than exciting!
I don't really think anybody from that era comes close to Jackson in terms of P4P power, even HW's like Tyson and Lewis. I'd probably rank Jackson in the top 5 hardest P4P punchers ever. I'd say McClellan and Benn were the second and third hardest punchers at MW of that time respectively. LMW is harder because I don't think there were as many big punchers there as there was at MW.
If you really think about it, true one-punch knockout artists are actually pretty rare. Even Tyson doesn't really qualify for that standard, as hard as he hit. Of those I've seen, Jackson was the hardest puncher with the most snap on his punches, yes. When a guy was hit flush, he just went limp and was unconscious before he fell. And he did that multiple times. That's really, really rare.
Julian had his S.A.T - speed, accuracy, timing. He had long arms, long fingers and wide clavicles, nice broad shoulders. Perfect structure to punch. I feel Gerald McClellan had heavier hands though. Nigel Benn lacked accuracy, timing and heavy-handedness, he was all leverages and effort. Arguably, Benn generated the most power then.
Benn could hit you on the nose and knock you over. Jackson's knockouts were all on-point, to the right spots. McClellan could hit you with only half-effort and drop or shake you, he must've had very very heavy hands. He mostly focussed on timing, Gerald. Different types of punchers.
Jackson was the hardest hitter of his era, maybe ever. It is pretty amazing the number of men he took out with one punch. The KO that sticks out most to me is the Buster Drayton KO. Drayton was one of those guys most men could hit with a baseball bat and it wouldn't hurt him. Jackson put him to sleep with one left hook.
Golovkin doesn't hit like Jackson, but he isn't far off. Better body puncher than Julian too. In terms of single shot, clean count-out power though Julian Jackson was the best I've seen. Roy Jones could produce power to match either of them on his day. Thomas Tate went the distance with Jackson and couldn't do 2 rounds with Jones. His KO's of 175 pounders Virgi Hill and Montell Griffin were awesome displays of punching to surpass anything Jackson, Golovkin, McClellan or Benn ever produced.
No, just no. Watch the video I uploaded of Julian, and then watch Roy's KO's. Julian's KO's were awesome!
