How Pacquiao will get past Mayweather's reach, jab

I know one of the strongest arguments for Floyd Mayweather is how he will simply use his jab and reach advantage to keep Pacquiao at a distance all night. However, I've always been one to believe this will be an extremely hard feat to do.

Pacquiao has much experience in closing the distance against a foe who is larger and longer than him.

Here is a great video explaining why going into a fight planning to use your height, jab, and reach advantage against Pacquiao has proven faulty.

    https: // www . youtube . com /watch?v=TpgNpN97S1U

Pacquiao's experience in negating an opponent's reach and jab has become so effective in fact that he was able to get Algieri to stop using it. Algieri's bread and butter was his jab, and Algieri abandoned it. As evidence to show, his average jab amount decreased more than 50% in his fight with Pacquiao when he should have been using it more!

Overall, I think Pacquiao has overwhelming experience in fighting opponents who have height advantages and reach advantages against him, and also try to use the jab to create distance. And not only experience but success. Every opponent who has went in with the mindset of, "I'm going to use my jab and reach to keep him off me," has been picked apart.

Mayweather has said you can see he'll win just by looking at the Tale of the Tape and mentioned his reach and height as two reasons why he'll win. However, I think Mayweather going into the fight with the mindset of "I'm going to use my reach and jab as my way of success" could ultimately be a trap, as history has shown with Manny Pacquiao.

    Thoughts?

P.S, I'm not saying Mayweather will lose. I'm just looking at different perspectives to figure out advantages & weaknesses for both.

I agree. I think if Mayweather wins he'll do so using head and lateral movement rather than his physical reach advantage alone. A reach advantage ain't useful in and of itself if it's not used properly. Pacquiao closes the distance rather quickly. Case in point, Cotto had success with his jab in the first round against Pacquiao, but in the second round Pacquiao had its timing down and started countering with lead straight lefts over Cotto's jab.

He'll throw 'with' Mayweather with 4-5 punch combinations.

Lol. That is a bit harsh.

But Larry's point still stands. Mayweather has a really good jab, Algeri was slower and had about the same reach. Also Floyd has much better accuracy/timing/prediction abilities than Chris did.

You guys need to realize why Algeri was a champion:

He won a belt that Alvarado got because someone abandoned it, which went to Ruslan, which went to Algeri in the fight of his life.

Ruslan was highly overrated and Algeri went life and death with him. Chris was no where near the best of his division let alone a elite P4P fighter.

At the same time though Pac is very quick at closing gaps so mayweather will probably have some trouble hitting him on his way in, but on the occasions that he does Pac may be stunned cause he walked into the shot some.

thats just it. floyd wont be able to keep pac off of him. he can outrun these slower guys like maidana but not pac. reach advantage will mean shi- if you cant keep the guy off of you. im thinking floyd will have to keep a high guard, use his jab and just use the ring and potshot. juan can keep pac off of him since he has power.

So, I'm guessing you didn't bother to watch the video where it highlighted every opponent not named Algieri.

Though, let's be honest... Juan still wasn't able to keep Pacquiao completely off him, lol.
