Almost, as the old saying goes, butters no parsnips.

Vitali hit Lewis with everything he had and he couldn't even knock him off his feet. This, I will remind you, is a fighter with one of the best KO ratios in boxing history against a fighter who was stopped by one punch twice in his career, and the best he could manage was to wobble Lewis in the 2nd.

Simply put, Vitali didn't have what it takes to get the job done that night.

Lewis fanboys are a hypocritical bunch.

They are quick to lap up all the bs Lewis used to justify ducking Byrd and Ruiz, but endlessly cry and moan about Bowe doing the same thing to him.

Funny thread, but the fact Vitali made Lewis go life-and-death with him eclipses anything Byrd achieved, even if Vitali lost.

Byrd has the better wins, though.

Not really. A win is a win. A loss is a loss. If the fight was a loss due to poor judging you might have a point. BUT Vitali was cut due to a legal punch. He was hit hard quite a few times. And he lost. No shame in that.

You failed to add your parenthesis notations on Vitali's list. Allow me to fill them in.

    Vitaly Klitschko:

Corrie Sanders (a golfer, stopped by Hasim Rahman. Never beat anyone outside of Wlad)

Kirk Johnson (never beat one elite fighter. Best win was Maskaev. Behind on points when he was disqualified against John Ruiz)

Tomasz Adamek (If beating Adamek is impressive for Vitali and makes him a great heavyweight, then Chad Dawson must be one of the greatest light heavyweights of all time for beating Adamek in his original division)

Samuel Peter (needed a gift to beat former MW old man James Toney, has nothing on his resume)

Cristobal Arreola ( lost against every top HW he came up against, limited slow plodder with zero defense)

Larry Donald ( Rid**** Bowe in 1994)

    Vaughn Bean ( LOL)

Not really the same thing. The old Sander's that Wlad & Vitali fought spent more time on the golf course than in the gym.

Not all title defenses and non title defenses are created equal. Are you honestly propping Vitali up for beating guys like Chris Arreola and Kevin Johnson? Come on man. Put these names in the proper context. You're giving credit to Arreola for beating Seth Mitchell? You're losing credibility. And no Arreola was never a threat to Wladimir Klitschko!

More impressive than Tyson's opposition in the comeback???

Tyson beat Frank Bruno. The same Frank Bruno who was WBC champ? The guy who had a competitive fight with Lewis and holds wins over McCall,Tillis etc

Frank Bruno is better than Vitali's whole resume. Tyson also beat Botha and Seldon.

Point is Vitali has nothing on his resume. He's known for losing to Lennox Lewis and like a defiant child, raising his arm after getting busted up by Lennox, the real winner.

In this case quantity>quality. Lets not forget about all of the questionable wins on Byrds resume, he "won" a lot of fights that he shouldn't have.

I had Vitali winning 5-4 but based on the way the fight was going I saw the last 3 rounds going the way of Byrd hence finishing with a 7-5 victory.

I've discussed this fight loads, my opinion never really changed tbh.

What rounds did you have for Byrd? 5-4 is a ridiculous score.
