Top 15 according to ranking and/or accomplishment....

    1. Wilder
    2. Jennings
    3. Thompson
    4. Stiverne
    5. Cunningham
    6. Mansour
    7. Chambers
    8. Scott
    9. Tarver
    10. Arreola
    11. Ruiz Jr.

After that there are only unproven prospects and journeymen left. Perhaps Rossy #12 and Briggs #13?

I wasn't going to rank Stiverne but he's listed as American on Boxrec so perhaps he's changed his nationality?

Perhaps I'm over-rating Chambers but to be fair he had a good performance against Adamek not long ago. And Mchunu ain't no chump.

As for #1, Wilder's resume is indeed weak. But he's done enough to be considered a big favorite if matched against Thompson or Jennings.

Why would he get discouraged so easily? Wlad wanted to fight the guy and might have still fought him if Mitchell had taken some comeback fights.

Getting blown out by Jonathon Banks ought to discourage you if you have world title aspiration, then getting blown out by Arreola in 1.. He's finished.

It would have taken a lot to erase the memory of being wiped out like he was by the likes of Arreola or Banks. Uphill climb, and he apparently didn't have the stomach for it. :conf

    Let's revisit.

Thompson - inactive since thread was made in March. (last fought in February, in Solis rematch)

Jennings - has fought once since March. Lost to divisional #1 Wladimir Klitschko by UD and gave a fair accounting of himself.

Wilder - has fought twice since March. Late stoppages of Molina and Duhaupas, with some difficulty.

Stiverne - hasn't fought since March, last fought in the Wilder loss in January.

    Scott - hasn't fought since 2014.

    No.

Wilder is #1, there is no room for debate.

His wins over Duhaupas, Scott, Stiverne, and Liakovich(manner of the win) trump all the wins Thompson and Jennings have garnered these past few years.

How long would 280lb Solis last with Wilder. Come on. Or David Price.

Only Fedosov, who Jennings was losing 4-2 before the hematoma caused the stoppage could top any of Wilders wins, and he was coming of a 2 yr lull in activity. :-(

    Continued...

Cunningham - has fought twice since thread was made. Lost a close UD to Glazkov and drew with Tarver.

Ruiz Jr. - has fought once since March, pecking out a UD8 over Joell Godfrey last night.

Johnson - has fought once since March. Annihilated by Anthony Joshua in two.

Tarver - has fought once since March. Drew with Cunningham.

Fedosov - has fought twice since March, knocking out Lenroy Thomas and Donovan Dennis to win Boxcino.

Jennings is the best American heavy. He beats Wilder, no doubt. Arreola/Tarver/Briggs/Thompson also got good chances to beat the chump.

I forgot to add Amir Mansour, who is currently the second best American heavyweight after Jennings.
