Nah nah nah, doesn't work that way. When Ward traveled, in order to keep a maximum from his purse (needs to feed those moufs at home) he embarked on a series of milk runs around the world, where airliners took him to Tokyo, Kabul, back to Sydney, then Rome, Lyon, London Gatwick and finally AC. He traveled a ****load. A lot more than Froch. :good
Froch doesn't have any ties to New Jersey either, that's why it was a neutral territory. And no, that ****ogy doesn't work. It's America, the boxing capital of the world, not some random obscure country like Haiti. Every great fighter since the start of the Queensberry rules have bled and fought in the United States, so stick with the subject. Tomasz Adamek(Polish) got the benefit of the doubt against Eddie Chambers in New Jersey, despite Eddie being from Philadelphia(10 minute drive away from Jersey)
Frock said he was willing to face Chavez in Vegas why not Ward is he that scared of losing again to SOG ?
''People forget that I'm from the West Coast and the Atlantic City fight [vs. Froch] was a road fight for me. That's a 5-hour flight for me from California to Philadelphia and then another hour, or whatever it is, to Atlantic City. People don't realize that. It's funny hearing people say that they'd like to see me out of my comfort zone by going to the UK. I'm born and raised in America. I'm from here. You have to come here in the sport of boxing to become a worldwide star. I didn't know you had to go to another country in order to be that star.' ''They'll say things like, "Ward needs to come out of his comfort zone and go to the UK." Well like I already said, the last time I checked, an American fighter doesn't have to go to Europe to become well-known. European fighters have to come here and stay here to be well-known. Froch has fought in his hometown 16 or 17 times, but you can count on one hand the number of times I fought in Oakland; five.'' :good
I don't see Filipinos complaining that Pac vs Mayweather is gonna be held in Vegas. Why are you Brits so butt hurt over Andre Ward fighting in the United States? Besides some shady decision from corrupt British judges which is only thing you guys are banking on, Froch is not gonna beat Ward. As inactive as Ward has been the past few years, I see him having very little difficulty dealing with Froch. There is a level to this ****. By the way I will prefer that Ward vs Froch takes place in England just shut Brit**** up.
...and title fights cannot take place outside of America, that would void their legitimacy. I get it, you guys are special. Why are you talking about Haiti, referencing my post? Did you confuse Halifax and Haiti? I'm sure none of those Americans in attendance were biased towards Ward. None.
Have you watched the Adamek/Chambers fight? There's a big Polish community and when both fighters were announced Chambers was booed and Adamek cheered. Adamek fighting in the US is damn close to a home town fight. Unless very few US fans buy tickets for Ward/Froch and tons fly over from Britain, Ward/Froch anywhere in the US would be a clear home town fight for Ward.
Ward vs Kovalev in a neutral location like Moscow (Kovalev is from Chelyabinsk) Ward vs Golovkin in neutral Almaty (Golovkin is from Karaganda). Neutral. :deal
No one here is "butt hurt" my friend. Froch has simply challenged Ward to a fight in the UK and I started the thread to gauge peoples opinions on whether you think it is a good fight and whether or not you think Ward should take it. On a side-note, America has always been the Fight capital of the world. No one is denying this. However, and this is my opinion, fighters should leave their comfort zone and fight in other countries to prove they are the best when facing adversity. Honestly, what is more impressive than seeing a fighter travel to another fighters home country and beat them in front of their own fans? I also think Ward beats Froch easily 9 times out of 10, with the Froch win coming via behind-on-the-cards KO.
Never said that.. wow, you're just grasping at straws now. I misread Halifax for Haiti. I didn't even know Halifax was a city, I had to google it to read that it's in Canada. The point still stands though.. Again, I've never said fighting outside of the U.S is a bad thing. I simply just said that a fight of this magnitude should be held in a neutral territory just like the first fight. The rematch for the undisputed SMW championship of the world. Also, the only people in attendance who were probably biased were Wards immediate family members and friends. Nobody is gonna be like.. "hey, this ward guy, i like him.. he's from America just like me(even though he's from a different state). I sure hope he puts a beating on Froch, because yeah.. I'm American and he's not"
I'd disagree about fighters having to travel. If a fighter can make more money at home fighting in front of a home crowd there is no reason to travel. Why would anyone want to get paid less? But if a fight is available abroad and it's the most lucrative option there are no excuses not to travel.
If it wasn't for hometown robberies and corrupt officiating boxers will have no problem fighting abroad. Why do think Carl refused to fight Abraham in Germany right after the Kessler fight in the super six tournament? I know I will be accused of being biased but if Froch vs Dirrell had taken place in a neutral territory, Froch will have an extra loss on his record and Dirrell's career could have turned out for the better.
