Excellent. He gets a bad wrap nowadays because of a pair of quit-jobs in his career's twilight, but he more or less absolved himself of his sins when he came back a couple of years ago jumping up several weight classes (and following a five year retirement during which he became a fat, well-off politician) to school & stop a hyped unbeaten KO artist prospect being hailed as "the next big thing" from Brazil.

I thought he was a bit lucky to beat Casamayor at the time but I didn't think he would get that close either. I rewatched the fight a few years later and it wasn't that that bad of a decision, still felt Casa deserved it but it was close thanks to the KD and point deduction.

A very impressive athletic talent..Explosive and powerful but not heaps polished and skilled, if anything that regressed a bit as he went on, apart from the comeback fight late in his career against that young guy who was pretty rubbish . And once he couldn't use his physicality against guys the division above he struggled a bit.

He had some great highlight reel Ko's..I thought he was hiding glass but he took his licks against Corrales and Barrios.

If you give Casa the decision over Popo you have to subtract the W over Santa Cruz from his record.

That was a robbery (and I was an El Cepillo fan)

Good enough to beat any 130 of today. He's fight with Barrios was classic.

I was at the Corrales - Freitas fight, as a Corrales fan. What a great night.

Freitas was very fast of hand and foot. Very good power and was an elite fighter in his era. Not hall of fame worthy though.

I'm gonna tell you what Frietas' problem was. He was married. I don't know when he married her, but it looked to be in the middle of his career. His wife was a whiny little cry baby. It didn't matter if he was winning big, or losing bad, his wife was a crying mess and she took him mentally out of the fight game. He even changed his style completely to avoid getting hit a lot less. His killer instinct went down the toilet. A wonderful fighter lost to an annoying woman
