Stars are born, not made? I completely disagree. Just about anyone can become a star with the right marketing.

 

A lot of people are only stars because of their families or who they know.

Some people are stars for no real reason. Just look at the Kardashians.

Bringing this discussion back to boxing, people only know Chavez Jr. because of his father.

 

We would still be watching Bob Fitzsimmons' corpse rot.

 

No, no, I'm saying the Kardashians are stars, despite not having any talent. They're stars because of great marketing. My point was that good marketing can make just about anyone a star.

The problem with your idea is, what happens if those stars die unexpectedly or retire/are forced to retire? Without any new up-and-coming fighters to replace them, there won't be any stars left.

I know wrestling and boxing are different, but I think this ****ogy still works: Part of the reason WCW died was because the old stars stayed in the spotlight, while new, up-and-coming talent was ignored.

 

Interesting theory. Perhaps by extension we should eliminate posters here with zero vCash?

 

Imagine the cause and effect this would have, not only in boxing, but in all of the world's decisions.

No more poverty, no more wars, no more of fat-ass Sally Struthers begging for food and money for poor kids, no more terror attacks, no more ****py boy bands, all music would be metal, no more Teddy Atlas, no more BS...

Friday night fights should be replaced with Tecate girls vs Corona girls vs Budweiser girls hot oil wrestling. Lets see if ESPN will pre-empt this with another boring game of basketball or tennis. Viewership rankings will sky-rocket, all because Boxed Ears evil, calculated plan has came to fruition.

Sting was never an up and coming talent? What? You think he was always headlining shows? No. He had to start somewhere, just like everyone else. You think he wasn't built and groomed to become a star?

What does talent have to do with it? I can't believe you even have to ask that question. Talent has EVERYTHING to do with it. Talent is what gives people the potential to become stars. Do you think Floyd and Manny became stars overnight? Do you seriously think anyone back then expected either of them to become as big as they are now?

If you're a star in boxing, but don't have talent, then you're a fraud.

 

Ima help Boxed Ears out a lil here. Sting was never an up-and-coming musician. He was a star from birth. Sting was resposible for the CIA spying on people, with every step you take, with every breath you take he is watching you....even when you're on ESB/BN24. Then like abracadabra, Sting will reach out and grab ya. That is how the other members of the Police became stars; not by practice or rising from the role of garage band, but by Sting being Sting.
