Its interesting but what American or American based SMWs have won a world title fight away in Europe? I cant think of any and you can see that they are not as successful when fighting in Europe. I think home advantage is massive In Europe Dirrell, Andrade, Green, Lucas, Lacy, Manfredo, Pudwill, McIntyre, Jimenez, Sheika, Brewer, Mitchell, Schommer, Holmes, Close (I said based in America), Thornton, Essett, Jarvis, McClellan, Perez, Gatti (not Arturo), Tate, Butler, G Johnson, Hernandez, Bryan, Mack Lost in Europe This just gives an idea but do consider that out of those 26 fighters 19 were or became world rated in the division, and some fought more than once in Europe. I think it could be Vegas if it happens, but would like to see Ward travel, even if it is against what I think is a further faded Froch. I think home advantage is a gain and it would raise Wards stock massively if he were to win away. Frochs last 3 fights have been tough and many of his fights have been since hes been a world champ
You can bet your last dollar that if Ward fought in the UK he'd want something ludicrous like an 80/20 split in his favour (even though he couldn't draw flies to sh*t).
If it goes to purse bids Ward as the super champion would get the bigger share of the purse. When Wlad was Super WBA champion and Povetkin WBA regular champion Wlad got 75% of the purse. Fact is if it goes to purse bids I expect Froch to drop the title he might end up having to take a pay cut if it goes to purse bids. He made $6 million against Kessler and Groves 1 and that means the total purse would have to be bigger than Froch/Groves 2 for Froch to make as much as he usually does which is highly unlikely. This enforced fight by the WBA suits Ward more than Froch. He basically has Froch over a barrel. He either makes Froch pay him more than he deserves or risks making far less when it goes to purse bids. If Froch drops the title then Ward claims Froch is ducking a rematch when in reality Froch is just looking to make a fight where he doesn't get shafted and make less than he is worth.
Because Chavez Jr is a draw in the states unlike Ward so it's worth his while travelling to the states to earn more cash. A fight with Ward in the US would not draw anywhere near as much as a fight with Chavez Jr and it would reduce income from the UK in terms of PPV sales, as well as that UK fans would rather travel to see a fight in Vegas than to see a fight in Oakland or wherever else.
Ward is an immensely talented fighter who has wasted the last couple of years. I think his inactivity makes a fight vs Froch a close fight. Im also not convinced that wards heart is in it anymore not sure he is interested or motivated which is a bad combination if fighting Froch who always comes to fight
Oh he'll be motivated alright. He's barely fought in recent years so will clearly need the cash especially after all the legal costs incurred by his legal disputes. Plus he's nothing but professional, he may have some ring rust but that won't be enough for Froch to win.
This content is protected drops his WBA Super belt, citing his career is not defined by belts, with Froch then being promoted to 'Super Champion'. Froch and Chavez Jr then fight for the WBA Super belt in Las Vegas in late Summer/early Autumn, with Ward still not having fought anyone.
Q:Should that fight happen? A: Of course..Nor Froch nor Ward have too many options of a 'big fight' to come back to the world stage. Q:In Nottingham? A:England, not only to force Ward to be more offensive but also is the most rentable option considering the Mayweather-Pacquiao thing. I don't know how is Ward doing after so much time so I can't make a prediction. However I'm with Froch.
You do know that Ward was calling Chaves a tough fight and wants to fight him. GGG also calls Chaves a good fight and wants to fight him. Chaves is a cash cow EVERYBODY wants to fight him. Fonfara is ranked like 3 or 4 by WBC and would make Chaves a more legit opponent for anyone if Chaves gets the W.
How serious was that challenge ? Ward vs Froch is more logical What weight class does Chavez even fight in ? I don't take him as a serious boxer anyways
