Roach: Haymon bribing potential sparring partners to not train with pacquiao

The source doesn't seem credible. If I'm not mistaken, that website/news station is a propaganda machine for Pacman, similar to the Mayweather bias exhibited by fighthype.

 

That's not the point. If what Roach said is true, then it simply means Floyd's camp is really threatened by Pac. They're trying to gain as much advantage as they can.

If I was pacquiao I would do the same ****. If I was either fighter I would offer anywhere from 3-5k to any fighter offered to joint the opposing camp. If they sign a contract to not partake in the other camp they can have the money.

for 1. once this fight is over 3-5k for like 5-10 sparring partners is nothing.
2. This is one of the biggest fights ever. EVERY SINGLE thing counts, from the camps, to pressers, to in ring entrances, etc. Any SINGLE POSSIBLE edge you can get is good as long as it doesn't break any rules (steroids, drugging an opponent, loading gloves, bribing your opponent to not win, etc)
3. NOTHING illegal about this. There's no rule that states it's illegal to poach sparing partners. I'm sure this isn't the first time this type of thing is happening and I doubt it won't be the last.

 

True, its not illegal and with all the amount of money and fame on the line, I wouldnt blame Floyds camp for doing it. I always thought fighters would want an opponent at their best so they can prove to everyone and themselves who the better fighter is, unfortunately when it comes to money, Honor and Character go down the drain. Its even more sad when you have fans that condone it.

 

Being at your best physically, yes I agree with you. But physically who your sparring partner is makes no difference.


This is a mental chess move, just like bringing in ariza and having heredia present in training camp. Floyd is playing with the pacquiao camps head. Mind games are alllllllll good in my book.

 

Its not a question if its illegal or not.

Its a question of is it morally correct to do so. Ask yourself, is it the right thing to do or not?

Yep I agree to every single thing that could improve your camp, I'm against something that could hinder the other camp.

I feel this is a fair move.... This is mental chess moves right here. Pacquiao can physically feel 100% but if he THINKS his sparring partners were not good enough maybe he will THINK that he isn't prepared enough for floyd... you see the difference? Mental war vs physical war?

I'm against doing things that take away from your god given ability out of the womb (no performance enhancers) but anything that gives you a mental edge is fair in my book. That includes trash talking, who you bring around camp and stuff like that. I think all is fair in mental warfare but once you enter the physical that's where I think it gets a little sketchy.
