anything is possible. First a fighter has to beat guys who have a pulse. Not being disrespectful to JP, but he needs to beat solid opposition before we can say what his future looks like. At the moment it is all about the hype. Beating a stiff like Beato Costa jnr raised his ranking.... and Beato was a c level fighter from Brazil with a heavily padded record. Makes JP look good at a glance if you don't look at the superficial rankings his opponent had just 1 fight before getting exposed 3 times in a row. But the payday Costa got must of been worth it yeah? he lost 2 out of 3 defeats in a row by KO....Cashing out on an otherwise lacklustre career imo. For JP, Jason Pettaway is the best guy he has been matched up with so far, and is expected to lose via KO once again later this evening. :good
Being a kiwi, I have high hopes for this young man. He certainly has the potential to be be a future HW champ if he continues to improve as he has been. Will he? Too early to tell, but I'm looking forward to witnessing another dominant performance tonight :bbb
Hey Kiwi! :hi: He definitely has the tools to become a champion. He has the youth and determination to be something great if he can capitalise on the situation he is in. Whether he can use these tools to build something great, we wont know until we find out I guess... Working with Kevin Barry seems to be paying off very well. What he has become as a fighter in the 2 short years he has worked with Kevin he has come leaps & bounds. His offensive game is much greater than what it used to be & his defence has got significantly better. There is a lot more work to be done defensively, but he is on his way. Kevin has stated that Joe will be aggressive from the get-go tonight, so expect a stoppage before round 6 Hopefully we get to see some good tests for him in the next year. WarParker!
At this point "definitely maybe" is most appropriate. He does appear to have more athletic talent than most of his peers. He's one of the next generation that does not make me want to vomit while watching him box.:admin
To be honest, I don't see it. He's got some great things going for him but he's also lacking in a lot of areas. I think he'd be a good contender.
Unless there are lots more diamonds in the rough we just don't know about yet. He seems poised to be among the very best new heavies in the post-K2 era. Not the absolute #1 best, not better than say Joshua, or maybe a few others, but he'll be up there.
:think Inconclusive. We don't really know anything regarding Parker's chin nor how the kid might react with someone elite dishing it out. We just haven't seen enough. :conf I'd be confident in Joshua being the victor some way or another, though.
I like both. Parker has more explosive power and faster hands and seems to be the more solidly built one but Joshua has already proven his boxing skill from his great amateur career. I actually do think their opponents in their pro careers up till now are comparable really so it's hard for me to make a pick.
At this stage, I agree 100% IB. I dont think Joe's defence is at the level it needs to be to fight a heavy hitting live body. Someone who plod's but has heavy hands is not such a threat as he has the speed and footwork to load off as he needs... We can only wait and see what Kevin can get out of Parker.
Never did anything of consequence as an amateur, failing whenever he stepped up in class. Same fate awaits him in the professional ranks.
