If he is he probably barely makes it. Not sure if he's ever been on the ballot before as I don't really follow the HOF that much. He began his career at light heavy, with an impressive knockout streak and capturing the WBO title. He ascended to heavyweight, beat a string of decent opponent, captured the lineal title and was 35-0 before losing to Foreman. He recaptured the IBF title and ultimately went on to retiring with a final record of something like 52-4-1-40..

    NO:nono..

His title reign was only 6 months then he was knocked cold by the 45 yr old Foreman, and he had some good wins at Heavyweight but there were a lot of guy's from the 90's that were better than him, Lewis, Bowe, Foreman, Holyfield, i just don't see it..

But the BHOF is a cheesy joke so he probably will get in, hell if they let Arturo Gatti in they will let Moorer in..

The Major league baseball HOF is a real HOF, only the best of the best get in, sadly boxing isn't like that...

The first ever southpaw heavyweight champion of the world.

Also joined an exclusive club of fighters to go from LHW to HW and win a title.

    Yes, hes HOF imo, barely.

I agree. he had an alphabet strap at light heavy.. Became a one time lineal champ at heavy and regained a fragment of it. His record consists of wins over Holyfield, Stewart, botha, Schultz, Jirov, Cooper, leslie stewart and an old James Smith.. Not the greatest resume but not a bad one.. Foreman, Holy, Tua, and one other guy were the only ones to beat him. Only two of those got him in his prime.

I would say that in a pure sense Moorer shouldn't qualify for IBHOF but the quality required to gain admittance is being diluted and there are (arguably) lesser fighters that have been inducted, so I guess a case could be made for MM's inclusion.

    No.

He wasn't a great fighter, and he was never "famous." You kind of have to be one or the other. Preferably both.

    If you're neither, no.

Sweet post:good, Donald Curry never made it in , so MM has no business getting in either..

I'm under the impression that the HOF is fixed and rigged, by the powers that control it, and getting in is all political, Monetary or some other underlying corruption, just like some of the fights, FIXED..

It's a lot easier to argue a case against Moorer

Sadly the Foreman fight defines Moorer, yet it's a lot easier to make a case against him here. I'm not sure a man that lost his title to a 45 year old heavyweight is half of fame material. His resume is painfully thin and he failed to unify any of the light heavyweight titles, his strap he picked up against Schulz means very little as well.

On the flip side, jumping to light heavyweight to win the lineal crown for what that's worth. Opinions may vary, but I'd say Holyfield was rightly regarded as the best heavyweight in the world, so it's that was a pretty nice achievement, but even this can be tarnished when we take into account the effect that the Bowe fights had on his foe.

I don't think so. The Holyfield title winning effort was his main highlight.

I get the impression that the Hall of Fame is less knowledgeable than we are. :yep

Seriously, I doubt they ****yze the big picture such as overall quality of opposition, matchmaking, etc. I agree the Hall is political. But lets be realistic, the whole game of boxing is political.
