If you have to mention the best heavyweights of the last decade, you'll probably mention Wlad, Vitali, Povetkin, Haye, Chagaev, Brewster (04-06), etc. Tony Thompson might not be there, but he definitely deserves a honorable mention. In 06-07 he was arguably the best American heavyweight after beating fringe but decent contenders like Guinn, Krasniqi and Timur Ibragimov. On the following years he has beaten Chazz Witherspoon (who was a decent prospect), Owen Beck, David Price twice (hyped prospect) and Odlanier Solis twice. This were guys that were all one fight away from being title contenders.
I'd use Tony Thompson as the proof that this era of heavyweights absolutely sucks. He's old, started boxing when he was near 30, slow, with little technical skill or power. The fact that any contender can lose to this guy is a travesty.
that a 43 year old is some kind of glorified gatekeeper is a testament to the weakness of the era. Obviously not saying hes bad though, hes got enough to beat the other "bronze bomber".
always some klit**** gotta mention the two exceptions to the rule Foreman and Hopkins too next I expect. these guys are NOT glorified gatekeepers you moron. Is tony Thompson anything like gold medallist former undefeated undisputed HOF-crushing ATG-destroying 2 time world champion foreman who was that good he could win a title in his 40s? NO. then shut up.
Wicked underrated. :good #1 American heavy. :deal http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=530425
don't tell me to shut up, punk ass *****. you are a crybaby. what has klitschko to do with it? he destroyed thompson, twice. thompson is willing to fight anyone. btw, foreman was pathetic when he was champ. got a gift decision against schulz, then ran from a justifiable rematch. thus ending his relevance.
I just did. so? where am I crying? all roads lead to K2 according to you. there is just hope that you have confused foreman jnr with George. That is the only way you can keep some credibility with this post.
