Most of that is just made up for publicity. You just have to look at pictures of Galento to see he was fat but NOT anywhere near as fat as someone like Butterbean. The fact is he fought 10 and 15 rounders, whereas Butterbean liked to stay on the 4-rounders !
Povetkin was lunging in trying to get to the bigger Wlad only to be nearly hugged to death. And i never said that fight represented the entire division the way you suggested the Galento-Baer fight did. Many fights both then and now look amatuerish and ugly, that doesnt mean they are the poster for every division. But my point, which you have conveniently strayed from is Galento could fight 15 rounds against good opposition where as Butterbean was strictly a four round fighter against hand picked tomato cans. There is no comparison in their careers. Galento was nothing great, but he proved he could be formidable on occasion. Butterbean was a circus act that never proved a thing except he could be popular for his schtick.
yeah, because previous generations hws all were built like greek gods. ken norton and mike weaver stood out back then, because they did look like greek gods. holmes, ****ey, etc, looked like drunks pulled from a barstool.

the certainly weren't body beautifuls. they were fat too. probably getting in on 20% body fat. butterbean is probably over 40%.
