Tyson was okay, Bowe, Lewis, and De La Hoya was decent. But the political **** and some of the other shenanigans, you can have it.

If you look at what I quoted, Titan1 had said he was fed up with the entire scene going back 30 years...

To me, social media has made it clear that in fact, boxing is more a soap opera than actual fighting. Adding to that, the fan base in general, are nothing more than idolaters, bent on worship of and in some cases, rimming of their preferred idol. You'll always have your Don King's and the like, but with today's spread with names such as Arum, Haymon and the like, the vast chasm seems greater than ever.

I come here to read the experiences, view points and overall appreciation of like-minded fans. I am no expert, rather just a longtime fan (since Manila), collector of fight video, sometimes writer and full time student of the sport. I like the sharing of stories, insights and exchange of ideas in this forum.

Fighters not fighting enough..."champions"...so-called...avoiding the top contenders...top guys not fighting each other...too many "champions" in the same division...I miss the 15 round title fights...etc.

I hate the rankings the top 15 can nearly get away without fighting each other , then the champion can just take his pick to whoever suits. Maidana getting the Floyd fights a joke really they need to get some sort of system going.

If you'd made this thread eight weeks ago, I'd be inclined to agree with you. But the next three months - starting with the NBC card tonight - is shaping up to be the best schedule in boxing in a while.

The state of boxing today of how fighters handle their careers is a joke compared to past eras.

After following boxing for over 30 years I have noticed that boxing is always "dying" etc. Nothing new.

Boxing is almost like WWE. Its not about the best fighting the best, its about becoming popular (loved or hated) and pitting popular fighters against each other. At this rate, boxing will be completely dead in 5 years. i know Al Haymon fighters praise Haymon for the paydays but at the end of the day its us fans who keep this sport together. As we can see, i am not the only one who shares this sentiment.

If not for the flood of Eastern European and Central Asian fighters entering the sport in addition to the ones who broke ground and became established. I would not even follow the sport.

Here is a list of fighters i'd consider unmissable or near to it right now:

    Francisco Rodriguez Jnr.
    Katusnari Tanayaka
    Kosei Tanaka
    Naoya Inoue
    Wladimir Klitschko
    Marco Huck
    Oleksander Uysk
    Ola Afolabi
    Sergey Kovalev
    Bernard Hopkins
    Carl Froch
    Gennady Golovkin
    Martin Murray
    Floyd Mayweather
    Manny Pacquiao
    Juan Manuel Marquez
    Miguel Vazquez (j/k)
    Carl Frampton
    Scott Quigg
    Malcolm Tunacao
    Roman Gonzalez
    Juan Estrada

So it's not bad by my eyes.

2015 began with a limp. There were a handful of injuries, few big fights were signed, Cotto-Canelo fell through and Mayweather-Pacquiao continued to mock. Now however, with the big one finally getting made, surely there is hope for all big fights, and from now till May 2nd we've got torrent of high quality bouts.
