It isn't though, not even close. It just doesn't have any good American fighters outside of the aging B-Hop.

Resume is tertiary criteria for me. I am most interested in how these two guys are taking this sport to new levels with their cerebral appraches and devasting styles that come from patience and technique.

Awesome in ring styles to behold and seemingly, decent family men outside the ring. What's not to like?

    Really a matter of opinion

    Golovkin:

    Proksa (#9)
    Macklin (#6)
    Stevens (#9)
    Geale (#2)
    Rubio (#5)
    Murray (#6)

    Kovalev:

    Campillo (#6?)
    Cleverly (#2)
    Hopkins (#1)
    Pascal* (#3)

*Obviously he still has to beat Pascal.

CST the problem with your list is you find something to criticize about each GGG opponent, but you praise each Kovalev opponent. I do agree that their resumes are similar in terms of talent, neither has really had a true elite opponent on their resume yet, and no I don't consider a 50 year old Bhop who wasn't fighting bums liek Murat and Shumenov elite still.

I did the thread back in October of last year, right before the BHop fight, I've been a believer in Kovalev for quite awhile and I wasn't seeing him get as much love as GGG was at the time, obviously that's changed since he beat Hopkins to a certain extent. And for the record the majority of Krusher's opponents were undefeated or close to, as opposed to most of GGG's opponents who while good are very flawed to say the least.

Also it irritates me that a lot of the fans on the site don't know a hell of a lot about the primarily Euro centric LHW division, and I would venture to guess most of GGG's detractors don't know much about the MW division either so to them their opponents are considered bums. But as I've said before just because they aren't well known to most Americans it doesn't invariably make them sh*tty. So I was just trying to bring some attention to the quality of a Cleverly or a Campillo which don't get near the credit they deserve and by default Kovalev doesn't get the credit for beating them either.

"Nobuhiro Ishida-8 losses, pummeled brutally by a shot Paul Williams and Pirog, best win got lucky with Kirkland."

you call knocking a guy down 3 times with ease in the first round LUCK? you lose credibility and look like a fanboy goof when embellishing your supporting arguments.

i like Kovalev and think his resume was superior even before Hopkins, but the eye test tells me Triple G is a level above him, insofar as talent. Kovalev doesn't get as much hype because most people see that same thing and plus Kovalev hasn't been marketed as hard or exposed to the public as much around the world.

also, Kovalev got cautious against Hopkins. Triple G goes for the kill every fight. people like that.
