One thing is for sure, matchroom are not willing to put their hands in thir pockets to secure home advantage. If they lose the bid Carl will drop the belt and retire.

I doubt it. Froch vs Ward has a lot of value in the UK but not in the US. In the UK it would sell 30,000+ tickets and a 10pm UK PPV would do well over 500,000 buys. In the US it would be lucky to sell 10,000 tickets and they are usually way cheaper there, then the UK PPV money would be less than half because of the time difference. It's completely different to the Degale vs Dirrell situation.

I think matchroom are very reliant on froch for a ppv, he could fight anyone and it'll sell well. think they'll make sure they win the purse bid

heard the winning bid was $3mil for degale dirrell, which seems very steep for 2 guys who haven't got much of a following.

Matchroom will beat Rocnation, no one in the US would be interested in that fight and Froch is a household name now in the UK. Hearn will stump up huge money for that fight.

Agreed. Anyways Rocnation would have to be stupid to try and have the fight in US

Wouldn't surprise me. Roc seem to be willing to spend and Ward was the first big name they signed, they are probably keen for him to remain an undefeated champion who is #1 in his division and highly rated P4P. They may not want to risk Ward possibly losing in the UK.

Hearn won't put it on unless he makes money or is investing in the future. Froch has one, maybe two fights left in him.

In the UK, Hearn is reliant on the gate, international rights, PPV, sponsors etc etc. all that is taken into account when he prices up what he thinks the bout is worth.

RocNation and Haymon have ridiculous funds and resources. RIDICULOUS. They probably operate most of their shows at a loss. Haymon gets most of his money through the contracts and percentages he agrees with his fighters, then has them on shows that financially benefit them.

Jay-Z isn't going to think twice to throw millions at fights that won't draw - the man is multi-millionaire and looking to make a splash in the boxing world. He can be thrifty, and look to pay people what the market dictates and be in the rat race with everybody else. Or he can over pay and gain momentum exceptionally quickly....

    Ward is scared.. little baby
    want to stay home? Awww
well am sorry but everything in this scenario dictates the fight should be in UK, jay z or anyone wont be able to hide that fact

    actions speak louder than words
will ward travel or be forever known as the whiny diva that has no honor and no business sense whatsoever

You do realise Jay-Z owns Roc-Nation Sports. He's already worth about £600 million. If he had to bid high for this fight, he'd just stick a concert on the night before the fight and make $2m which makes per show he does. He would probably give away tickets to the fight with every concert ticket bought as well.

I saw an interview in which that guy who runs Roc-Nation Sports said this is something they're looking at doing to get casual fans into the arenas for the fights.

if roc nation can put enough money on the table to make it worthwhile for froch i dont see why it cant be in US but i seriously doubt it

The fight will sell in UK simple as that
and its long due for ward to fight outside his comfort zone and take the test..froch did it , kessler did it .. real champions do it

Now lets see the ward defenders defending the undefendable in the comments below

DeGale vs. Dirrell has a less of value in the US than here but look who won that.
