Hearn plays by the numbers, and in my opinion the $2.1m that he bid was high. He would need it to make financial sense over to here to make money, and I'm surprised he thought he could do that with what he bid.

He doesn't seem to realise that Haymon (and the avenues he uses) and RocNation have the ability to throw around ridiculous money and have very few (if any) people to answer to. Eddie has to Appease the corporate side of the business.

He seemed confident that I'd Ward v Froch II happens, there's no way it will be financially viable in America. I cannot see that fight happening without Froch having to pack his luggage.

I suspected this would be the case so watched on tv. I dont think boxing is suited to football stadiums, especially one the size of Wembley.

There was about 55,000 people in the stadium and the ticket touts purchased 70% of the tickets making huge losses.

Think this is about spot on.

Up until now Eddie has always relied on the safety net of his sky deal, allowing him to be able to offer more than anyone else and still make it financially viable.

However he didn't legislate for someone throwing silly money and that what this $3m is at a fight like this, it may be a turning point for Eddie and he may have to take on board that promoters in the US WILL be willing to throw silly money around and lose money on fights such as this.

Certainly puts a whole different light on Froch v Ward negotiations/purse bids, either offer more during negotiations in the first place or have to pay considerably more for purse bids, either way its going to cost Matchroom more, he can no longer afford (not money wise) to let big fights he NEEDS to go to purse bids as to stop a repeat of this he'll be offer well above what is reasonable.

Can 100% see the same happening with Froch v Ward and if the fight goes ahead it won't be over here.

Eddie has the pressure of supplying sky with big fights so lets see how he reacts after losing the Degale purse bids and maybe more in the future.

Pretty sure though that he will get the UK TV rights to Dirrell v Degale and it will be on sky.

unless sky are prepared to lose money on boxing, which is most unlikely, there ain't much that fast car can do. i'm wondering how long haymon's modus operandi, which appears to be pay your boxers more money than they generate, remains a sustainable business model.

Ha what a joke! I like Hearn but to build it as Degale making history and not even have it on the channel he works with is a joke!

Hearn fans want to see this on skysports!
