“Everyone wants to keep talking about how this fight happened. This fight happened because of me. This fight didn't happen because of Manny Pacquiao. Because I asked for the fight myself. We had to choose an opponent for May, and I said what better opponent to choose? And so we chose Pacquiao.”

He has other options and wanted to milk the public's demand for a Pacquiao fight to the fullest by making as much money as he possibly could elsewhere till no one is left. Pacquiao and Arum did the exact same thing while hyping other fights as "one step closer to Mayweather". Mayweather did the exact same thing. Why waste it all on one night/fight when they could make more money in the long run fighting others?. It's nothing but a business strategy and those guys will take advantage of anything possible to maximize profits. In the end, this is their primary job and main source of big money.

I dunno I think the fight would have been bigger after Pacquiao stopped cotto and before he was knocked out. Then again if mayweather takes a L at that stage his earning power would have decreased.

Then what was the big deal on the dug testing clause? You can't have it both ways.

And neither can the other side of the argument.

While I agree with everything Scar said in the post you quoted, this is also true:

One side agreed to everything back in 2009 while the other side admitted they walked away from negotiations and announced they were fighting Joshua Clottey in less than 72 hours.

People don't like to hear that, but it is what it is.

I wish others had this understanding. Agree on everything you said. Its crazy to claim either of these guys were afraid of each other. Both in my opinion have faced bigger obstacles in the upcoming early years of their careers. Both are proven and have already paid their dues to earn the respect they both have.
