Roy due to being faster than Kovalev, stronger than Kovalev, hit harder than Kovalev, and being greater than Kovalev.

Why are people imagining what would happen if Kovalev hit Roy with a clean hit?

Imagine what would happen if Roy hit Kovalev with a clean hit? Would be something nasty.

I watched that fight live.

That was a slippery spot on the canvas, and wasn't the first or last time you could see it was slippery.. Roy's right foot kicking out was due to the surface IMO and was not a chicken dance like it gets made out to be.

Still it was a legit KD, but I don't think Roy was seriously hurt.. Shocked for sure, you can even see him cursing at himself when he got right back up.

I honestly think Roy got lazy at times while content to cruise to a UD.. I don't think he would have that mindset with Kovalev, and would constantly be weary of any punch.

Why is this fight being talked about when Kov is just starting to fight the top guys?

 

He was only faster. Didn't hit harder, wasn't stronger, and it remains to be seen if Kovalev will equalize or surpass Jones' legacy. Personally I think Kovalev will be the top dog at LHW for years to come, and if that's true he can definitely equalize and even surpass Roy in terms of greatness. I only rate Jones as a SMW, and LHW(mostly as a LHW) I don't rate his win over Fraud Ruiz at HW, and obviously not career at CW while he was past his best.

 

Roy wasn't hurt. It was a flash knockdown.
