The possibility of that he may have used plaster against Cotto makes his best win very suspect. I don't beleve he beat Clottey, he didn't beat Williams and he didn't beat Shane or Pac. They fact that he lost to Cotto in the rematch leaves him short of the hof. The other guys he beat were decent fighters, but in order to get into the Hall, you had to have even at least one convincing big win not clouded with suspicion. Beating 6 heads Cintron, Diaz, and Martinez before he was champion are good wins, not hof wins.

:think I wonder if Sergio Martinez gets in one day.
While he never beat any HOF calibre fighters he did have a solid run as the MW champ.
I dont think i myself would vote for him but if he were to get in, it would add to Margaritos legacy.
This Jones Jr - Hopkins 1. Both were equally green back then.

Hmm, that's a good point - if you don't consider Maravilla a lock, then Margarito's entire argument begins to hinge on just Cotto I... :think

I think he will, just maybe in the next 25 plus yrs or maybe not even in our lifetime. He had good wins against world class opposition and in defeat wasn't easy to beat. I don't think he beat a prime Maravilla, whom I think was more of a late bloomer, I think Margo beat a green Martinez. But I do agree he beat Cotto at his best, tho today Cotto looks eerily similar to the offensive wrecking machine he used to be, but it might be a mirage, we'll know for sure in his next fight or so. Solid champion, action fighter. All these fighters legends will grow in the next 20 yrs or so, esp Margarito, Cotto, and Mosley's, fighters that always took on the best of their generations, fearless fighters not afraid to lose.

:D The one thing i do cherish about Magaritos career is that he twice KOd The Frog.
That puta deserves to be KOd again if he ever steps back in the ring.

The h.o.f has a lot of guys who don't belong, as many of these guys got sentimental votes. I don't know about Martinez either. Compared to other guys who got in he should get in, but i hold fighters to higher standards when it comes to the hof.

He seriously needs to be inducted into Hall of Shame so future fighters will think twice before cheating.

He wasn't for Williams maybe, but he was for massively undersized Pacquiao and long-in-the-tooth Mosley...

Santos pretty much had Margo's #, too, even though in their rematch it was a split technical decision...

:conf I don't even think Cotto struggled with him much in the rematch, despite the protests of some Margarito fans that he seemed to be "coming on" like the 1st time. (I just didn't see it that way)

I agree. I differ on Pacs fights with Torrecsmpo, Singsurat, the first Morales fight and the Marquez 4 fight. Ok I confess, I did like that Pac tested before the 1st Morales fight and showed heart in losing. And I'm Glad Morales won. Geez, I'm all over the place IB lol.
