Anyway, if they did go toe-to-toe with no holding, Povetkin KOs Wlad because unlike Klitschko, Povetkin has a chin. Wlad can't KO Povetkin, he showed that in the first fight when everything was in his favor. He threw him, he punched him, he pushed him but Povetkin just kept getting up again. Now suppose Povetkin lands his best shots on Wlad's glass without the prospect of being hugged...what do you think happens?

We kind of saw what would happen if Wlad tried to go toe to toe in the 7th round of their first fight. It was embarrassing, Wlad showed no ability to fight in close, totally smothered his work by clinching and punching, looked horribly off balance.

Wlad's build, lack of an upper cut, combined with his habitual need to clinch whenever he senses an opponent is too close make it impossible for him to be effective fighting this way.

If Wlad rushed Povetkin and traded punches he still might win though. His sheer physicality and size advantage and his ability to manhandle Povetkin could see him win but he'd more likely get KO'ed. But then why would he fight this way. It's like saying what if Joe Frazier boxed from range with Ali? He'll never fight this way and would never try to.

 

So Povetkin saw the distance against Wlad doing what he does best.

But he gets stopped in 5 against Wlad in a fight where he's at his worst and where Povetkin is at his best?

Wlad sought the full power of K2 promotions to twist the rules while he disgraced himself and the sport and pretty much did everything possibly imaginable to avoid going tot-to-toe with Povetkin.

The video shows he was terrified of fighting Povetkin. The writing is on the wall for what would happen if Povetkin was able to let lose on him inside without having to carry Wlads full body weight.
