I read an article from a doctor a while back, I wish I could dig it up..

But he explains that he believes getting punched a lot in the head while you are dehydrated can permanently effect your punch resistance..

Maybe all those shots he took from Tarver while dehydrated made it worse?

Johnson also landed a much bigger punch early in the fight than the one that KOed Jones. Roy staggered though.

Bernard Hopkins? He was the daddy of the dude Roy fought, right?

Go to 39:12... Great left hook by Toney... Lampley said it was a "glancing" blow but it sure had a thud to it.

Roid Jones at age of 25 was 168 lbs and he was probably already roided up there. Kovalev is a natural 175 and any natural 175 destroys a roided up 168 pounder no matter the reflexes and speed. Size does matter inside the ring. A lot. Ring is small. Try it some time.

With respect I would say the dumbest thing I've read today, or for a few days tbh is Roid fans claiming on the one hand that he was hit plenty of times in his prime, offered as evidence that his chin was NOT glass.

Then claiming that Kovalev, a much harder puncher than ANYONE Jones ever fought, wouldn't be able to land one shot on him.

    So which is it?

    1. Jones was impossible to hit.

    2. Jones had an iron chin.

    or,

    3. Kovalev is so useless he couldn't land a single solid shot on Jones.

Because all 3 are quite frankly kuntish.

Jones wasn't impossible to hit.. But very hard to land clean on.

Jones didn't have an iron chin. But the few times he was hit hard and clean in his prime he did OK, except for the Del Valle KD, which was weird because Roy wasn't looking up and didn't see the punch coming at all. I don't think he would put himself in that kind of position knowing Kovalev is a savage puncher.

And I am not saying Kovalev wouldn't land, but I don't think just any punch knocks Roy out.. The complete glass version of Roy went nearly 10 rounds with hard punching Lebedev and almost made it to the bell.

I also would wan't to see how aggressive Kovalev would be after he tasted Jones' speed and power.. If Jones got him hesitant, I think there is a good chance Jones could move and potshot to a victory. But I am in no way denying the possibility Kovalev knocks him out.:good

Well, I was assuming that anyone commenting on that would read it in context of Kovalev vs Jones since it is the thread title. You disqualified in understanding that. Kovalev is bigger, stronger and has much more power against a 25 year-old Jones. 25 year old Jones has better reflexes, but he would be muscled up by bigger and stronger and fundamentally better boxer that Kovalev is.

How do you rate Lebedev's chin?

You shouldn't make such broad statements, you have to understand how ridiculous that statement would sound. You said ANY natural 175 pounder and most people would read that as Kovlalev and others.

He gets cracked flush with a couple of big shots from LHWs in this video.

At the 0:06 and 0:15 marks
